Default My custom turbo kit

Well,I have decided to build my own turbo kit.

I basically wanted to use the headers I had seen on here with the integrated uppipe as my starting point.

Then run a stock WRX turbo
Godspeed downpipe
JDM spec GC8 wrx top mount intercooler
Samco hoses
Vishu tec-II

What I was curious of was if you guys thought this would be a good setup and what else I would need.

2 other questions.

1.I also wanted to know if you knew where I could buy the oilpan that Ludespeed uses for their turbo kits?

2.Will the headers interchange from the 2.0 and 2.5?I most likely will end up using a 2.2L block but I still plan on the 2.5SOHC heads.I wasn't sure if the headers designed for the WRX will work on a RS.

Well, if you going to go that route, go to the dealership and order all the stock oil & coolant lines and fittings that aren't on the turbo (if the turbo ones are still on the turbo you get). And you'll need a turbo crossmember as well as the RS one is the wrong shape for it. Someone said that the WRX one will fit in an older RS, but I haven't officially seen it done, just the older Legacy turbo crossmembers.

Maybe the 99 is different, but I also think there are some fit issues with the JDM EJ20 intercooler on the EJ25 intake manifold. You may have to get one designed for a turbo eJ25 instead. Might even be better.

Well,The IC I was looking at came off of a GC8 chassis so I thought it should fit but I may be wrong. My biggest concern realistically was where I could get that oil pan that Ludespeed has.Maybe I'll try calling them to see if they have it.

I think Tom sells them for around $125 a piece (w/out the return line). Also, you could just tap the existing pan you have, though it may be a bit more time consuming.

The EJ20 manifold sits further forward than the EJ25, thus allwowing the greater amount of room for the intercooler. You would probably be better off going with an intercooler designed for the EJ25, as everyone who has placed the WRX intercooler in their cars said its a "very tight" fit. Not to mention, an STi intercooler can set you back a pretty penny, some as much as $900 for a new one.

Your kit looks pretty good, just beware that putting on the Legacy crossmember and what not is a bit more work. I am running a Legacy setup and the time I estimated turned out to be a lot less then it really took to do.

My only complaint is your turbo/header choice...

Why not take that money your spending on a header that won't likely get you much but some nice top end and a bit lower EGT's and instead get some stock Legacy turbo or WRX headers and get a better turbo.

IMHO headers are the last thing more of a nice to have item and won't get you a whole lot of performance without running lots of boost and such.
