Default I'd like to starve the owners of this dog and leave them on the railroad tracks

I've been following this story and just saw on the news that the 'owners' have come forward to claim this poor dog as their own. Words cannot describe the shame these human beings (and I use the term human beings lightly) should feel for what they did to this dog.

Quote:
His eyes will melt your heart, but seeing his body will break it. A puppy found wandering railroad tracks in Providence has been taken to a safe place, and every effort is being made to see that he survives after being starved and abandoned. ABC6 Reporter Julie Ruditzky has more...
*****
-From E J Finocchio, D.V.M., -- President, RI ASPCA:
I wanted to share this story with you. The state workers who discovered Willie were no more than 1/4 mile from the Providence Municipal shelter but decided to take Willie to us because one of the crew knew of the Marvin Fund. This is just one of the dynamic things that happen on a daily basis at the shelter.
On Sept 15, three state workers discovered a tiny dog along some railroad tracks along Allens Ave. in Providence. He appeared to be a little hobo desperately looking for a safe haven. His frail body was barely capable of keeping him upright as he walked along the tracks. With his tail tucked between his hind legs, he cowered as the three approached him. Frightened, abandoned and hungry he had no choice but to befriend the three strangers. His tiny body was lifted from the tracks, brought to a truck and wrapped in a towel. He was transported to the RISPCA by the state workers who are to be commended for their act of compassion. The first thing we did at the shelter was to offer him a teaspoon of food and a cup of water which he accepted. He was literally a walking skeleton and weighed in at two pounds, three ounces.
After a general examination it was decided to take him to Dr. Bruzzi’s due to his appalling condition for further care and treatment. Dr. Bruzzi reported back to me that he is severely emaciated, extremely dehydrated and very anemic not to mention the fleas that had to be desperate to pick him as a host. His chances of survival are questionable at this time. In the meantime the Marvin Fund will provide what ever financial aid is needed to help Willie.

Wait... how do we know that someone abandoned him?

I'm a dog lover... but reading that story I see NOTHING that indicates he had previous owners who abandoned him.

He's a stray.

He may have been born a stray, or he may have had owners and then wandered away and become lost. Unless he has a chip and a collar, how do you know he had any owners? And even if he did, can we get THEIR story first?

Hope he gets better, but this story does not support the title.

This is an article written a few days ago. I just saw on the news that the owners have come forward and claim that they brought thte dog with them from the Dominican Republic and "The dog ran away and was lost for 3 days"

No dog gets that skinny in three days.

Follow the link in the OP and read the comments. Although I'm not basing my info on the comments. I got this updated info from CNN.

This is a pretty half-assed story. I'm awaiting more info, and not just hearsay.

I'm not a huge fan of rats, but I would gladly give that little guy a home. My dogs could teach him how to at least act like a dog.

My little dog was in about the same condition when she was found. She was six pounds and is now a sixteen pound dog. She was a runaway dog (found with no tags). Given the opportunity she will just boogie down the road. My wife freaks out when she isn’t right under foot where she usually is.

I've adopted three shelter animal in the past two years, its a very rewarding experience. Its a great feeling to give another chance to an animal that is less fortunate.

This is the dog I adopted 2.5 years ago. He was found in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina and shipped up to RI for lack of shelters down south.

I had a rat dog like that (minpin). I liked the dog well enough, he was a random stray that came to live with us.

After 6 months of him deciding to boogie whenever he got the chance, I simply let him.

**** that dog. If he doesn't want to be here, where he is fed and cared for, then I don't want him want him here.

Of my other two dogs, the small one won't leave the cul-de-sac. The larger might occasionally, if given the chance. But every time she has, she has come back with an offering. Doves, snakes, squirrels, the occasional little helpful fuzzy bunny. She always comes back within ~15 minutes.

Good looking dog. We have adopted more dogs than I care to mention (6 kids in the family, so you know each one had to have their own dog). I cant wait till we get back to san diego so i can finally get my german shepard.
