Default 13 year old car... 15,386 miles.

About a month ago I took the time to do the yearly detail on the SVX. Paint correction was completed last year, so that won't need to be done again for quite some time.

Still looks brand new for a 1996! Yeah, yeah, I know, the low miles did most of the work haha. I'm really most pleased about the plastic bumpers/lower side panels not fading like many of these cars have seen.

Your car looks really nice. How do those windows work?

I had a 10 year old car with really low miles too....first an old couple owned it just used it for bank and church. Then the next owner was a commuter student who just went back an forth to school. I got it and it had 40,000 miles. It was an '89 Sunbird. So I suppose it's possible.

This one's cleaner.

Love this car. One of my favorite SVXs, keep it up. Yea your right. My friends Barcelona Red 94 LS FWD with 68,000 miles and the lower door panel was chipping, and the mirrors were faded. Then theres a Brilliant Red 97 LSI with 36,000 at my local dealership that was never titled. They left it outside in the sun the mirrors are faded, the grille is faded, and the roof is starting. It's only on the red ones from what I've seen, so watch out! Your definitely in a good spot.

Well, it's really my parents' car. The only reason it has this "many" miles is because it was my mom's DD for about a year. Then my dad fell in love with it, put it in the garage, and bought my mom a more suitable DD (She's now on her fifth Outback and has enjoyed them all.) Ever since, it's been a few hundred mile per year car. We've talked it over, and instead of ever selling it when he retires in a couple years, it's getting passed on to me.

Damn well better be! I've turned into the one who has solely been taking care of it!

Power windows, but they only roll down from that black weather stripping. I think it was designed to reduce wind noise. It also allows the stationary glass to be installed all the way up to the roof, hiding the door frame and giving it a unique look.

First off, thank you for the kind words. You reminded me in my other thread that I needed to post these pictures up! Forgot all about it; only put it up on my local forum. That's tragic they left that SVX outside... one would think they would see the paint damage accumulating on it...

Yea and I heard that somebody asked them if they wanted to sell it and they said they wanted new sticker price. Also I heard that the owners wife had three of them. I can't really remember the exact story. I posted it on the SVX Network some where.

Weren't you trying to sell it before or was that the previous owner? Because I remember seeing it from the SVX Network and I think eBay. And I remember saving the pics. Ha ha.

Single owner here! Parents bought it off the lot back in the day. We weren't selling it, but I posted up a feeler when my dad wanted to see what he would get for it. Year or two later, loving it more and more as the cleaner I made it, he proposed the idea of keeping it in the family. I, of course, abided to the thought.

Now that I'm starting to get this photography thing down, I might have to (regretfully) drive the SVX out to some nice location! The only time I've ever taken pictures of the thing is in the driveway!

That is awesome that its getting passed on to you and that its got such low miles and in such good condition. I do have a question though. If you drive it so rarely do you change the oil every few months anyways? And what about the gasoline, do you use sta-bil or really only fill up every 2 years?

You're not the first to ask this haha, and I completely understand your train of thought. Considering it's in my dad's hands right now, he just changes the oil every ~3,000 miles. If it were up to me, I would probably just change it every 4-5 months if I never hit that 3,000 mile mark.

The gas is definitely filled up a few times a year... at least. When one of my parent's cars is getting inspected, this gets taken out for the day. It's a long enough drive to work to get everything back in order. We try to start it up before the battery loses its charge to keep it all in line furthermore.

There were a definitely a few times back in the day (when I still didn't have my license) that the car was only driven to be inspected and back. I've persuaded my father that it would be much easier to maintain if we drove it a little more than that haha. When I'm back home in a couple weeks (and weather permitting Thanksgiving time), I'm definitely taking it out!
