Default Timing belt change, do I need the special sprocket wrench?

Title pretty much says it all. I'm planning on doing the timing belt change myself and plan on doing the cam/crank seal and maybe oil if it's leaking as well.

I was reading the subaru manual on how to change it and they show a special sprocket wrench for removing the cam/crank sprockets. Do i need these, would an impact gun just work?

What issues have those who've done this come up against?

Thanks in advance,
~steve
