Default Brand new car, obnoxious problems!

I bought my wrx brand new from a dealer like a month ago, and there is a rattling coming from the rear window. I pushed on the rear window and it makes a creaking noise, as does the interior cloth on the roof. anyone know if the dealer will laugh at me when i go up and bitch about it.

Here's my list of issues right now. Nothing big.

Oh wait. Does anyone else have hard starts in the morning when its below 60 out? I had my car turn over for a little while before it started up one morning. Also, my car idles at 1.5k-2k when it first starts up when its cold. it sounds odd.

but anyways, here's my list.

-Weather stripping on rear pass. door is falling off
-Roof interior/rear window creeks when driving (no matter what speed, i could be backing up in a parking lot.)
-Keyless Entry Chirps died (sounded like it was underwater, then died. sporadically comes back so i disabled it)
-Dealer installed tint is bubbled
-Spoiler was not bolted tight (easy fix)
-Rear window brake light was not disabled (easier fix)
-Some plastic cover with foam from under the dash on the passenger side just fell off. I reattached it but it's cracked. wtf???

And one thing the dealer overlooked:

Checked my tires when i got it; the dealer had the tires inflated to 44 psi each! idiots.

Anyways, anyone else have this many little problems with their NEW car??

Let me know! If they don't fix my every little complaint, i will never go to that dealer again.

So, take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it or replace it....

Impreza's are really prone to random creeks, clicks, rattles, etc. I've had them in all different places in my dash/stereo/AC/etc. Basically, you can fix them two ways:

-Your fist + a lot of angry force (works for me most of the time, just be careful not to deploy airbags)
-Rap music + bass on level 6 + volume on level 25-30 (works, but usually creates new rattles)

I had a rattle in my dash glass (the plastic across your guages), a rattle ontop of my dash, and a rattle coming from one of my vents all at one time. Me and my buddy went shopping one day, he plugged in his ipod, played some Eminem and all the rattles went away and haven't come back. :P

My spoiler was so badly put on, water was leaking into my trunk. They also scratched the trunk a little bit. My car also had 500km's on it for some reason. We were pretty pissed about that. But apparently they had to drive it down from the interior BC (there were a ton of mix ups and my car ended up being a week late and thats what they resorted to doing; idiots). But it helped speed along the break-in period.

hahaha what a great idea :-P I need to get a better system in order to do that. I got pissed at my chirp thing and hit the hood and it came back for like 24 hours

wow, know that you got an odd one. Definitely take it in and have them fix each item. If you planned on modding off the bat, I'd hold off for a bit to make sure there are no motor/tranny issues.

As far as hard starts are concerned, turn your key to the 'on' postion and let it sit for a few seconds. This gives the fuel pump time to prime. 1.5-2k startup RPM is normal...it's an emissions thing (trying to heat up the motor/cats quicker).

thanks; i was pretty sure that the high rpm start is normal - my dad said it's probably the maf sensor adjusting to the ambient temp - getting the car to burn less rich or lean. it makes for some weird driving if you take off right away. i let off the clutch and the gas the other day in first and it felt like i was in an auto; it was rolling by itself without stalling :-P

I don't know how much better the 07s are compared to the 02s, but mine had plenty of little noises and idiosyncrasies.

If they are fairly similar, just wait till you drive in the rain. It sounds like a window if open or water is pouring in from somewhere

definitely heard that with the potenza RE92's on. I have some goodyear eagle f1's on now and it sounds like nothing.

If done properly on a level road, the car will not stall and keep on rolling.
All of my previous cars that have been manual trans used to do that.

The dealer will fix the chirp issue, most likely by replacing it.
I personally do not like the chirp, and disabled it the day after I got the car.
Whether it works or not, it is not an issue for me now.

So the first complaint is totally out of Subaru's hands ... and the second one is probably something they need to have working to pass inspection?

The rest of the list, well, they should fix that.

Hard starts could be from a weak battery from sitting on the lot so long. Or if you lost power for whatever reason and the fuel pump wasnt primed.

High RPMs when starting are normal until the engine is run or idled long enough to drop...

Weather stripping, well thats not normal but not very serious.

Rattles on our cars are quite common. Dealer should fix it under warranty.

Keyless entry, well maybe the buzzer got wet?

What do you expect from dealer tint? lol

Dealer install the spoiler?

They never disable that light. There used to, I dunno if there is still something around but its a filler piece so you can remove that light and fill the hole with a piece of precut plastic.

Someone kicked the plastic getting in and out?

Dealers will adjust tire pressure to effect the ride quality on test drives. Makes it feel more solid...

Overall it doesnt sound like anything real serious but I do feel your pain. Sucks paying a but load of money for a car and it feel like its falling apart on you...

Everything you listed is pretty common, the only thing that would have been serious(high idle) is completely normal. you could probably get them to replace the plastic cover. get used to the rattles though, all of my Imprezas have rattled like crazy. My 2006 was making noise after having it for a few days.

If you think your rattles are bad, go take a ride in a gc8

i guess what really bothers me is that i had an 01 taurus and beat the living crap outta it and it still never rattled AT all...and its a taurus!

It is a "project" car, right off the showroom floor. I don't know what anyone else expected for 24k, but I had no delusions. Wait until you figure out just how lame all of the stock braking and suspension components are. Problem is, once you set up the components to handle some power the noises get worse.

I absolutely love my car, I just don't expect it to be something it's not.

Double sticky foam tape is a good solution, though there are more permanent ones.

The chirp usually breaks when solder on the wires inside break. If you take it apart you can see the wires are like about as long as -. And the solder is crappy, if the dealer will fix it for you let them, but if not just crack it apart and solder it up, that's what I had to do now it works like a charm.
