Default 2011 Mitsubishi cX [Spied]

n 2007, Mitsubishi showed off its “cX” crossover concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This sub-Outlander CUV has now hit the road Europe and we have the first ever look at the production-intent cX. Mitsubishi confirmed the cX was production bound a little over a year ago.

While the overall shape of the cX concept seems to be intact, it looks as if the production model has grown a bit in size, especially behind the rear doors. It comes as no surprise that the Mitsubishi’s “fighter-jet” nose along with aggressive headlights and taillights appear on this test car.

We can also see the character lines on the doors of the cX concept have translated well to the production model. So far it remains unclear whether this all-new vehicle will be riding on Mitsubishi’s Colt platform, or the GS platform that underpins the Lancer. Power for this yet-unnamed CUV is expected to come from a line of naturally aspirated four-cylinder motors, with the top end motor possibly being turbocharged. Mitsubishi’s SST dual-clutch transmission will be offered on the production cX.

This 5-passenger CUV will be a global product for Mitsubishi and will go on sale first in the U.S. in Q4 of 2010. Sales in Europe will start shortly after in early 2011.
