I know that there are a few people on here who own them. I have seen the pictures. Do a search of the members gallery. I remember when I was a teenager I wanted one of those so bad. I looked like a doorstop, but I thought it was cool. I still wouln't mind one.

That will be a fun car for you!

My first Subaru was a used '86 XT Turbo Light metallic blue over white (I called it the shark). It had that full electronic gizmo instrument stuff, which was all th rage in the 80's - kinda stupid now.

That was followed by a new '88 Black XT-6. I wish to this day I never got rid of the XT-6! They are not easy to come by. Most of the old one's have had the engine pulled to be put into built-it-yourself experimental aircraft. The aviation industry just loves the flat 4 and flat 6. Man when that car was clean it was awesome!

dammit, now I've had XTs in my head all day. Damn you!

Might be time to start looking at used XTs/XT6s again...

sorry bout that!! This XT has the electronic dash as well. Still works and looks kinda cool. Car was very well taken care of. they had just spent 2K on the air suspension. Car has a slight "running hot" condition...doesn't overheat but runs a little too warm. Radiator has good flow (has slight leak) seems to get hotter when you get into turbo more. anybody???????
the previous owner had it rustproofed and it shows, very very little rust. Anyway any XT owners.....advise is welcome!

while the radiator might seem ok, just get it replaced if your car is running hot. 99% of the time, that's what it is(EA82/EA82T engines are WELL known for eating radiators). Radiators are fairly cheap new, and you can get a double-row one online(check for links on the USMB) that'll work much better than the OEM one. The water pump may be a bit out of spec as well, but I'm fairly certain it's the radiator.

Just found out from a "80's" Subaru website that there were only 74 Black XT's made! I wonder how many are still on the road?? as I spoke with the local salvage yard looking for Xt parts. I was told they usually crush XT's when they do get them! as there isn't much call for their parts (around here)

Damn, I miss mine. 86 XT 4wd Turbo. I called mine "the Wedge."

Enjoy yours, man. If it's in good shape, I think you found the only one that's been well cared for.
