 SBR Street Block We utilize a new, stock short block and upgrade the factory pistons with Forged pistons by Manley, Wiseco, Mahle or CP! I have two more brand new OEM blocks arriving later this week - we will be building them into STG II motors - they will have Manley H beam rods and most likely Wiseco or Manley 99.5 mm pistons.

The limitations start with the cam profile and knowing the the cams/ shim buckets were properly installed. You will most likely need upgraded valvetrain components as well - high RPM's and stock springs usually do not mix. Valve float is not something you want to worry about when you decide to head over 7000 RPM's often. More things to consider are getting the rotating assembly properly balanced. This is a big issue - not one to take lightly! At the very least make sure the crankshaft, rods, and pistons are balanced properly. If you have the extra money take it a step further and have it balanced with the crank pulley/ harmonic balancer and the flywheel. Now - you have spent the money, and everything is done perfectly. Now you need to find a good competent tuner and explain your goals for the car and make sure he knows your plans as far as living above 7k for long periods of time. For the record, back in the day when I owned my STI - the highest I took it was 8100-8200 RPM's. The turbo involved was a GT35R and it still made power above 7k so it was well within the range I felt comfortable with running it. I miss that car, I need another Subby.....
