Default Nissan Previews New Global Minicar

Quote:
Enlarge Photo Nissan today revealed a preview sketch of its new global minicar that’s set to go on sale in March of 2010. The car will first be launched in Thailand and Nissan eventually plans to sell it in more than 150 countries, one of which may be the U.S.

Diminishing sales both in the U.S. and abroad is forcing Nissan to rethink its current lineup. Unlike its major rivals Toyota and Honda, Nissan doesn’t have an image of being a ‘green company’ but it’s hoping to change all that with the release of new models such as the all-electric LEAF and this new minicar.

No details have been released apart from these sketches but previous reports have suggested that the new minicar is the replacement for Nissan’s popular Micra hatchback. The Micra’s replacement is to be built on a new architecture dubbed the A-platform and will also spawn a unique version for Nissan’s French partner Renault.

Furthermore, the A-platform will eventually be used for at least three other models and will be built in five different countries

true, but having SULEV rated cars is different than promoting itself as a green company.

Default New Micra Designs Leak Out

Quote:
The next Nissan Micra will not be as visually exciting as recent design sketches suggest, according to a new set of images.

Revealed earlier this month, renderings of the new Micra showed a sporty, sculpted design.

But new images, said to be leaked official drawings, show the car to have conventional proportions much more in keeping with the shape of the current car.

The front of the car has elements of BMW’s Mini to it, although from the A-pillar back it is clearly a Micra.
The new supermini will be based off a 'new platform' specifically designed for compact cars, according to Nissan insiders.

Dubbed a “global compact car” by Nissan, the vehicle will be sold in over 150 countriies around the world, and could get a different name, which will be revealed at a later date.

Five countries are earmarked to produce the car: India, Thailand, China and two undisclosed locations, expected to be in Asia. Production at the Sunderland plant will switch to building the new Qazana and possibly the recently revealed electric Leaf

Default Nissan Micra Pure Drive/ Video

Quote:
Already a worldwide “Super Star” Nissan latest compact city car, the Micra, is now aiming to be one of the cleanest car ever produced too.
Schedule to hit Europe early 2011, the new Nissa Micra Pure Drive (Also known as March), aims to be a real alternative to all these diesel powered cars by offering no only the best fuel consumption possible but also just about 95 grams per kilometer of CO2 emission, thanks to Nissan latest 3-Cylinder 1.2L DIG Supercharger Engine.

To good to be true? Well if we could not challenge Nissan’s statement on their new 3-Cylinder Engine CO2 emission, we however had the chance to get some quality time with this new Nissan Micra Pure Drive and test if Nissan’s claims about their new HR12DDR engine where true or not, and well we can tell you that Nissan’s engineers did it again and we were not disappointed at all.

Not yet ready for the public, Nissan’s Micra Pure Drive was however available for us to test drive at the manufacturer compact testing facility also known as “Nissan Grandrive” in Oppama.

Identical to any other Micra, our future Pure Drive fitted with its new 1.2l 3-Cylinder DIG Supercharger Engine, just keep its promise by providing a powerful engine and enough “Power” to keep on any other cars fitted with a 1.5L one.
It is quite impressive to see how much power such tiny little 3 cylinder engine can offers, sure we are not going anytime soon to over take a GT-R with this Micra Pure Drive, but once the right foot just where it belongs, our Micra Pure Drive is really impressive.
Being one of the cleanest engine also means many compromises, and the most noticeable one is without a doubt Nissan’s choice for longer gear ratio, spoiling a bit the fun here but also one of reasons behind Nissan’s 95 grams per kilometer of CO2 emission.

Schedule to hit the European Market early 2011, our New Micra Pure Drive is still Nissan engineers hands for last minutes tweaks and performances adjustment, but if you are looking for a cheaper and cleaner alternative to those Diesel aberrations next year, why don’t you give our new Micra Pure Drive a try to check that petrol engine are still relevant nowadays and not only limited to sports cars
