Question stock BOV

i was thinking og putting my stock BOV back on for a week to compare with the Forge. Do i have to take off the intercooler to put the stock on back on? I know how to take off the intercooler, but its a pain to get the pipe back on the turbo.

I like the sound and all, but i hate cleaning the exhaust tips all the time, and i want the car to be smoother too.
I also want to see if my gas mileage will improve too.

You don't have to but it makes it easier.

Question

any tips on what to do with that spring where the blow off valve return goes to, it looks like it will be hard to get it back on.

do you think the stock bov will still fit with the T-Fitting there?

Needle Nose or take the interooler off. I suggest taking the Intercooler off. It makes it much easier. If you want, Eric and I will be here tomorrow working on his car. Stop by and I'll install it for you. Of course the stock BOV will still fit with the Tee there. I made it the same length and it will clear with no problems.

Matter of fact, You'll be doing it with my help. Anytime just call to make sure we are still here and not on a parts run. We'll be getting started real early.

I pulled off the HKS bov with the help of blacknight at about 3am this morning, and with a few curses and bruised knuckles we managed to get the stock one back on. We left the intercooler and there really isn't a space issue, unless you drop the 12mm socket like I did.

Hehe, anyway, noticeable difference in driveability. Alot smoother now.

I am thinking of getting another BOV also but I think I want one that recirculates. I don't know if it'll shoot a CE light with the Stage0 though.

Get an HKS and then get the recirculating kit so it vents back into the system.

Today, KapaFool took us out to lunch. I had these too big guys in the back and they were maing my mudflaps drag on the ground. The sound was so loud that I couldn't hear my car. I had to kick them out on the side of the road just to hear my newly cleaned BOV. Just Kidding. Yup, I cleaned my GFB BOV and I'm getting that sound that makes me smile again. I lost it there for a while.

Unhappy

i think i need to clean my Forge BOV too. Its not as loud as it used to be and today when i was driving hard, it didn't vent. While its out, I'm going to put the stock one back in.

What kind of grease or oil should I use?

Any multi-purpose grease. Be light and don't use too much.

Why do you have to clean it. Its venting filtered air right?

dirt can accumulate near the openings of the BOV. if enough dirt gets in the BOV it won't vent as good as it used to, sometimes it won't vent at all if the BOV is really dirty.
