Default Rubber hose on top of STi 6 speed transmission?

There's a small rubber hose on top of my 05 STi transmission, it's about 12 inches back of the front of the bellhousing and it looks like the size of a vacuum hose...on my swap I just discovered it was left disconnected by the shop, I was wondering what it's for?

Can't really get any good pics of it...too narrow of a spot.

I think it's a vent tube and being curved downward, it prevents water from getting into the transmission.

It's a vent. It just stays open. There is actually a little mount part that is tucks into next to your pitch stop mount. Perfectly normal!

Yea I was wondering the samething and when I looked it up in the service manual it was called an Air Vent(pretty sure thats the name). It didn't say much about it though. Maybe it relieves pressure or some heat out of it, but can't imagine why it would be run up into the car near the intercooler then.
