Default What all has the EJ25, and what is needed for my swap?

Ok, I got a 95 Impreza with a 1.8 that I really hate, and I want to get the EJ25 thats in the 2.5RS models. But I know there has to be another subaru with that same engine. Also, what all should I get to do the swap? I figure Motor, possibly tranny, ECU. Is the wireing harness differant, and can I use my 1.8 axels? I need to get everything priced out before I even attempt to try this. I can get the majority of the parts from the junkyard, and I know where to get a used Warrentied Motor for about $200. But I need to know what I have to swap out for it to work.

Um, wow. FWD or AWD? If FWD, then you're going to want to put an AWD gearbox in it, which requires swapping rear crossmembers, suspension, disc brake conversion, etc. If it's AWD already, then you should be okay.

The other thing is, if you want to do a transmission swap, you'll have to get a transmission that has the same rear diff ratio as the one your car has. IIRC, the 1.8 and 2.2's had 3.9 final drives (on the MANUAL transmission), so you'd want to find a 2000 Legacy transmission, and whatever year 2.5 motor you can find.

Wiring is going to be a pain. You're probably going to have to redo most of the harness in your car, and an ECU swap, and other things, especially if you're going from an auto to a manual. It's going to be a big job. You might as well take your car, remove the front subframe, rear subframe, suspension, engine, transmission, etc., and drop in WRX subframes, engine, transmission, suspension, etc. In the end, the cost of the 2.5 swap will probably be so expensive it may not be worth it. It's up to you though, if you can find a shop with cheap labor or are willing to rewire most of the front of your car yourself.

Head to the Conversions Forum and you will probably be able to find the answers you are seeking with a some searching. The good news is you have a '95 so OBDII won't be an issue. It looks like you want to stay with an NA engine...but for the money there maybe options that are similar in price but will net you a bigger bang for the buck in HP increase.
