Default New Baja Turbo Carbon Fiber Hoods!

Since the Bajas motor is out for a EJ257 shortblock upgrade.................
and I can pull the hood off for a while............................................. ...
One of the guys from my car club has a carbon fiber company and is going to make a mold of my hood and a mold of an '04 STI hood scoop..... then put the two together for a badd ass Baja STI hood! No fiberglass filler, double sided carbon fiber fabric, vacume formed and cooked in an autoclave!!!! this is gonna be sick. Well worh keeping a TMIC. Pics will follow.

The Baja hood with the STi scoop sounds like it will be very ugly/awkward looking to me.

Benhart, it's going to be a scoop from an 04 STI(yes, the GIANT one) BUT the lower portion is going to be shaved down considerably. The finished product is going to be SWEET! (I hope) Its going to be a one off for now. IF it gets good response from the forums the guy making it is going to set up an acount as a vendor to take orders. It will also fit 00-04 legacys/outbacks ! B4 owners in Europe and japan might dig it too

I just can't get down with the forward rake of the scoop on the Legacy body style. I wasn't a fan of it on my WRX, and I don't think that will change. Now, if it were more like the 08+ STi scoop and had more of a sculpted look to it like the stock hood, then maybe I could get down with it.

Thats the beauty of self expression. I can't stand the new hoods on the WRX LOL. The hatches look like mishapen eggs to me. I've always liked the 04 STI scoops. Besides, I think that by going with the 04 setup I'll get the most airflow to the TMIC. That's the main reason I'm doing it anyway...
better cooling. If it looks good to me in the process that's all that matters.(to me anyway )

I wouldn't mind one of those. What kind of price range?

It's going to be a one of a kind. If it turns out REALLY well he is considering selling them. Pricing isn't going to be an issue unless it's a viable product to sell. If it works out he'll set up an account to be a vendor I guess

I know VIS made a hood for the laegacy that had the larger scoop on it, http://www.visracing.com/newcatalog/...bon-Fiber-Hoodbut that other feature they put on it was not for me. Please post pics of the finished product.
What I'd like to see is a carbon fiber tonneau cover for my baja turbo!

I was thinking about finding a plain carbon fiber hood with no scoop since I'm converting to water/air intercooler.

I'm meeting with him tonight. I already ran the bed cover by him and he's excited about trying it. It won't be that much more than a hood because it's a smaller than normal bed. I'm ALSO gonna have him pull th show bars out and mold them too! It's about time we as loyal baja owners get sot some slick CF goodies!!!

The bed cover is something I could get down with, except I literally just ordered an ARE cap this afternoon.

LOL bajas with caps look like outbacks that had a small bomb go off in the cargo area. I'm ashamed to say that a cap equipped Baja came into work one day and I thought it was a weird looking outback. Hahaha

I'll admit they're strange looking, but they're not exactly lookers in the first place. It'll work perfectly for me since I'll be able to put a sub box in the pass-through, my dog will have the bed, and I'll be able to sell it when I don't need it any more.

If he is actually wanting to sell a decent amount of hoods have him do a stock mold as well because that will sell with the BE/BH owners. The STi scoop will be even more limited in terms of sales. Maybe it isn't a concern but he could prob sell 10 hoods or so of the stock variety if the quality is high enough and price is decent.

Just my opinion.

There are already CF hoods for NA 00 - 04 legacy / outback / baja models. I'm SPECIFICALLY having one made with a scoop that will supply a much higher volume of air to my after market TMIC at all speeds. The bed cover is gonna happen as well as moldings of the chrome "Show" bars.

If anyone upgrades, I'll happily buy your old hood.

I've needed a replacement for YEARS. If anyone knows of a "for sale" on a hood for Baja, let me know.

Silver would be best...but I'm open for anything.

I would deffinately buy a few sets of the CF "show" bars!! I said a few sets because I have 3 bajas and they would all look good with a little more CF
