If that's the camry v6 it really isn't needed. The 3rd gen 3sgte was pumping out 260hp from the factory, the MR2 it went into was something like 3100+lbs. This car should be lighter than that and using the 4 cylinder would cut down on weight instead of using the 6.

We never got the 3rd gen 3sgte in the states. It's a moot point anyways because they will both have suby engines.

You people talking about v6's and turbos, to make it competitive are missing the point entirely.

*shakes head*

This car is suppose to be FUN to drive.

Think about what would make an awesome autocross car.

NOT big power and weight. But fast response, from both the engine and the chasis.

More power = more money.

200hp in a car that weighs less than 3000lbs would be a breath of fresh air.

My wife has a NA miata on coilovers, Very FUN car but it could use more power.

I only brought up the 3gste because people were talking about how it should have a v6 which would make it heavier.

I personally would like a RWD coupe with miata handling and STI power to weight ratio.

I think the car is fine as is, it has plenty of upgrade potential using the suby motor as you can just drop a turbo suby motor in it. Which is probally what I would do if I bought one.

I'm glad Toyota is making a car like this; the world needs more lightweight, simple, fun cars. Unfortunately, I think this one is hideous. What is going on with their designers? Every new car coming out of Toyota (and Honda, for that matter) is butt-ugly. The interior is repulsive; I know it's just a concept car, but that is one of the ugliest interiors I have ever seen. Who would want to grap on an exposed glans every time they shift?

There's no point in building a V6 car weighing in around 3000 pounds. That's already here, and it's called the 370Z, or if you're budget concious, the Genesis Coupe.
What I'm hoping for is something in the 24-2600lb range, and maybe it suddenly doesn't need a turbo.

I'd rather have a power to weight ratio of <10lbs/hp which will be useful in all things.

I've driven andrew's miata and I wanted to get out and push!

... and the other thing I keep shaking my head about is...

Think what the insurance rates are going to be like on this thing. Every dumbass parent in the world is going to pick one up for their newly-16yo Ken Block Drift King posing douchebag. 3/10s of these things are going to be found at the bottom of SoCal "canyons" and wrapped around oak trees.

There should be a restriction on anyone under the age of 25 driving this car.
