Default Egt Tap Hole Size?

Installing headers and before putting them in want to have them pre drilled for EGT gauge that I will eventually get. What is the hole size that should be drilled? DIdnt know if each gauge company had different size egt screws?

There are different sizes for different probes, I believe. What brand are you going to get?

^^^ This.

I just did a MadDad Gauge into stock headers. Drill with a 21/64" bit and tapped with a 1/8" NPT.

Also if you are putting them into thin wall headers you will probably want to get the bung welded in.

What are the majority of hole sizes? Or is every manufacturer different? I have not even looked in to what I wanted yet.

I get the impression that aftermarket EGT sensors are all the same size, just because there are shops that sell EGT sensor bungs in only one size, just like O2 sensor bungs. The sensor for my PLX EGT is considerably smaller than Subaru's factory EGT sensor, though.

if they are tubular headers, you will need to buy the bung and have it welded on and then plugged.

its most prolly going to be 1/8 NPT, I get the same impression as NSFW.

Default egt tap hole size

i recently put a prosport egt in my 07 sti with stock manifolds, i drilled the hole on the drivers side manifold below the head about 6inches, theres a flat spot that is perfect placement for the pyrometer. i used a 3/8 drill bit and i tap slightly bigger. but when you get your egt it will tell you what size to use. most of em are 1/8 npt. the proport gauge works real nice i have the instrument cluster gauge bezel and it looks pretty stock besides the birghtness. but prosport seems to make a pretty good gauge and not the exspensive
