Ok, let's clear this up...

Rice = useless mods (lighted washer jets, stickers, neons, giant aluminum wings on FWD cars, stick-on hoodpins, APC anything.)

CF hoods are obviously a weight saving mod, having a positive effect on performance. CF hoods = not rice.

Aren't rice comments banned? Aren't they considered inflamatory?

I would keep it carbon. I like the look. I think what would look sweet is to have just the sides of the hood done, right up until they make it to the seam that makes the center of the hood. You getting what I'm getting at? I saw this done on a non subaru at a car show. I thought it looked wicked.

carbon. leave it carbon, you'd waste the whole weight savings concept otherwise.

=P rice this rice that, who cares

he asked if it looks good, not if it's rice or not. I think an unpainted carbon fiber hood on a white car looks really nice btw. rice rice rice, everything is rice =P

um... I don't know where you got the hood from, but that JDM remark, is the epitome of what a rice boy would say.

a cf hood would not equate to being "JDM" style unless it was manufactured in japan or produced by a japanese aftermarket company.

now in relevance to the original subject of this thread, white and carbon looks good, but white on white looks good too, it depends on what you like to look at and if you want people to know its cf or not. I personally would get the sides painted, meaning that the center of the hood, would be unpainted while the two sides before the impression are painted white.

unless you have takin out all the weight adders on the car, i would consider a cf hood on a wrx 'rice'. the factory hood is extremely lightweight compared to other hoods that are on hondas and other cars. i know my prelude hood is about 3x the weight of my wrx hood. but then again, why lower the weight on the front-end on a ff car (lude) without taking out the rear seats, etc to BALANCE the car out?

taking off weight without calculating overall weight distribution is rice. but then again if you are going for just looks, thats a good looking mod (but others would consider dress-up a rice mod).

jdm refers to what the trend is in Japan. I.E. CF hoods and Black rims...though so far in a month I've only seen one car with a CF hood over here in Tokyo. Seen lots of black rims though. Rice or Not, weither I like it or not, its your car do what you like. I like CF hood personally. And I would not paint it if I was you, they look best on white cars.

I believe that is because you received an aluminium hood with your wrx while the gc8's did not.

i got a C/F hood after my stock hood got pounded in a hail storm...

turned out a C/F hood was cheaper than a stock hood - and I didn't have to worry about paint match for the time being...

so I left it unpainted, and after a while the look grew on me... I picked up some darker wheels to offset the dark hood, and I get a lot of compliments...

mainly I wanted to add this comment - everyone is always screaming about Subaru Paint, and chips across the front of the hood - this is one thing I really like about my C/F hood... the marks left by rocks or other debris are almost unnoticeable - I just keep buffing and waxing from time to time - and looks good as new...

the C/F hood was from Bodykits NW (told they are sold out at the moment)... it was $450 at the time

the insurance agent called for a quote for a new aluminum WRX hood from a dealer - and was quoted $550 (unpainted)
