Default US/ 2011 Ford Fiesta hatchback [Spied]

Quote:
While we know a Ford Fiesta sedan is in the works for the U.S. market, there has been much speculation across the internet on whether we might also get the five-door hatchback that is so popular in Europe. Although Ford has yet to give us an official answer on the subject, our spies have answered the question with a lone shot of the U.S.-bound Fiesta five-door.

Our spy photographers only managed to snap this one photo before the hatch made a hasty get-away, but itís all the proof we need to see. Our photographer says that the hatchback has the same front end as the U.S.-spec Fiesta sedan thatís already been spied. A new rear bumper and taillights are lurking underneath the camo as well.
There will almost certainly be changes to the interior as the dash on this particular prototype is shrouded in a black cloth. The five-door version of the Fiesta will likely bow alongside its four-door counterpart in the early part of

why would they change it at all? Makes no sense why they would invest money in changes to a car that's fine already.

Why am I not seeing the same thing you guys are seeing??

Here is the Ford Fiesta straight from Ford's UK website:
http://www.ford.co.uk/Cars/NewFiesta

I don't see anything different besides the fact that the one in the spyshot doesn't have the doorhandles painted. The wheel arches are the same, the body lines are the same. The doors and glass are the same.

I agree, but I have a feeling many of the nice options offered in the European version will be stripped to make it more affordable.

Just look at the 2010 GTi, they have to strip nearly all the new features to keep the cost down to compete with the competition.

You can be sure they'll strip down the options. A $20k Fiesta doesn't stand a chance in the US. With only a few exceptions, the small cars we buy in the US are cheap. At least if you like the up scale Euro GTI, you can buy the A3. The only premium sub compact is the Mini.

I saw a fiesta sedan on the freeway a while back. It was heavily camo'd though. Yup, I work in Dearborn.

Saw this car in person at the Oshkosh air show two weeks ago. It was in a Ford/Rousch tent that was for VIPs only. They did drive it outside the tent though, I would have taken pictures if I knew it was still under Camo. It was a very nice looking car, much better looking than the awkward Honda Fit.

I paid $14k new for a Base Fit. So yes, $20k for a base model Fiesta is a bit high.

That said, if the price was right. I'd buy the hell out of a Ford Fiesta.

There is what I believe to be a Ford Ka (not a Feista) parked up the street from me right now - debadged and with temporary plates. Had to GIS it to find out what it was. It looks just like this, with the big gaping mouth:

If it's still there in the morning I'll get a picture.

Yeah that's definitely a KA. They didnt even mask the plate frame. Looks like a way stripped down model, the unpainted handles make it look cheap.

Is the car being built in the US or in Europe and shipped over? The reason the GTI is stripped down is because it is shipped over from Europe. If this is built here there will be alot less need to decontent it.

They're testing the new Fiesta up in CO right now. Saw a couple yesterday but didn't have my camera.

They're also testing what appears to be a new Cayenne.

Yup, but we all saw how well that worked for the Volvo C30, everything ended up being an option, priced it into entry level luxury sedan territory and they sold 3.... maybe 4 of them?

Don't f... this up Ford, GM has taken the lead in f...ing up their small car line up (Cruze losing the DI 1.4 Turbo in place of their ecotec 1.8 liter turd that dates back to the Cavalier )

Wait, WHAT!?!

I thought they were in the middle of retooling an engine plant to build Family 0 engines in North America for the Cruze and Volt.

So this must be why the first Volts will be using euro-built engines?

They fixed that. It actually doesn't cost much to build one anymore. Plus when was the last time you saw a commercial for the C30, I can't remember ever seeing one. Plus it is a semi luxury hatch, its not competing with the Mazda 3.
