Default 27 Degree F Autocross Today

I am Event Director for what will likely be Badlands Region's last AX this season. 27 degrees F as I head out the door and snow flurries in the forecast. Wish me luck.

BTW, I have designed a unique course, very simple and we will be running multiple laps for a total run time (estimated) of 3-4 minutes.

Hopefully you have short rungroups so the cornerworkers don't freeze their arses off while 30 cars make multiple 3-4min runs......

Always a tradeoff in that regard....hope it goes well. Cold wind sucks when you're standing still at a corner station!

The Indy region does a snow fun run every year. The CNY region does a 5 minute run group they call the "enduro". It works out well in that they choose 10 workers for the first run. After a car runs, they park, and immedietly go work so the first worker is only out there for 10 mins or so. They also have back ups IIRC so that the last guy out there isn't working 50 mins while no one else does.

Have fun!

Just finished an autocross here in Milwaukee. The temps started out around 27 when I left this morning but I think it ended up close to 40 by mid afternoon.

Did one today in CT. Weather was chilly with a Tshirt but fine with a hoodie. Same with yesterday.

We had a small turnout (10 drivers - it was a last minute event designed at least in part to make up for an event that failed a couple weeks ago). We got 4 runs each. Each run was ten laps (yes 10). Run times averaged about 4 minutes. Everybody had a blast - it was the core group of people involved with putting this (and most other) events on. Temps were below freezing the entire time. I ran my r-comps, and it took two laps to get them warmed up. After each run, my brakes were smoking hot. I had an absolute blast!

Our autox this weekend was a bit warmer at 46 for the high (Minnesota), but still below the cutoff point for running R-Comps most of the day. I was slow after being up for 30 hours, but my co-driver rocked a fast run in the afternoon to take 2nd (raw) between the 2 FMOD drivers. 15 out of the top 16 PAX were on street tires, it really goes to show that Rcomps need heat to work.

So we're not doing the one at the WFF on the 18th? I was hoping to be able to make at least one event this year, lol

No the event on the 18th will not happen. I will get it on the website. I have not received a sanction form from Shane, so it definitely will not happen.
