Default Ford Researching "Missile Guidance Technology" To Improve Auto Safety

Quote:
DEARBORN, Michigan Ford said it is researching "missile guidance technology for auto safety," in an e-mailed message to Inside Line on Thursday. The stunning announcement said that global positioning system satellites could monitor a vehicle's motion and communicate with in-car safety systems to prevent accidents.

The research, by Ford and Auburn University, is "moving into the prototype phase," said the automaker. No word yet on how much this technology will add to the bottom line for consumers or when it will be available.

8"The researchers have found potential for a GPS satellite to act as an early warning system that detects when a vehicle is about to lose control and communicate with the vehicle's stability control systems and other safety features to prevent a rollover or other serious accident," said Ford in a statement

I think I'd rather have anti-missile technology.

I think a Phalanx CIWS dome mounted on the roof would look pimp.

That's only feasible if gas stations also sold 4500 RPM ammo drums with armor-piercing tungsten penetrator rounds. Which they may already do in the US...
