Who would be interested in removing your muffler and installing a straight pipe? This would be similar to WhtDvl's exhaust. KapaFool and I would go down to a muffler shop and have them fabricate a bunch of straight pipes. Maybe, we could get them to do a Group Buy price. I'm thinking this will be around $50 and would definitely give you that nice rubble. Can I get a some confirmed buyers? I'll post the estimate and then we can start the list.

Kevin in the silver rex has unbolted his muffler. He stopped by at Winslow's during the big install and we listened to his car. It sounded damn good. I am definitely getting this if the straightpipe doesn't make it too ricey. Its too expensive to get a certain turboback right now so this will tide me over till then. We'll check on this install possibility this Monday.

Single tip for me too. Nothing fancy or double walled, just a straight 3-3.5" inch tip, til I can afford a scoobysport.

So an officer thinks I have an exhaust.

Funny you post that, because I just got pulled over and one of the cops excuses for pulling me over was I have an aftermarket exhaust. He quoted some municipality code that says any aftermarket exhaust is illegal. I didn't get a ticket, though.

i just hope people don't call me rice, i think the straight pipe would only be rice if it had a gigantic tip.

It does sound really nice. Code-7 and I took his off and it surpised us on how well it sounded. A tip would be really nice to put on it though.

i'd run my car with out the muffler, but i read somewhere about a guy who messed up the diiferential because of the heat exiting near it.

Hey, Count me in! It would be a cheap stand-by until I can afford a real exhaust.

We never made it down there. I got con'd into going down to talk to Richard Hale. Yup that Hale about a certain turbo'd RS that blew up. I actually got to see the car and the parts.

Pulled up next to body kitted cavalier and lowrider pickup over at schuck's today, and the expression on his and his friend's faces were priceless. I stepped out of the car and he immediately asked if it was a WRX, and what I did with the exhaust. Told him I didn't have one. When I walked away I thought I heard him say "it sounds ****ing nice" to his friend. When I came back outside (bought a mother's clay bar kit for my dad's jetta paint, frikkin' best $16 I've EVER spent on a car care product )he asked me how much I paid for it and what options it had, sounded like he wanted to go get one.

I still can't believe the sound myself. No loss in driveability, and you can hear the exhaust burble at every rpm. No droaning or resonation in my cabin and definitely passenger friendly. I imagine it'd get annoying after driving it to a place like seward, but around town, it's sweet.

Where's my straight pipe! Get on it!

Since KapaFool is unavailable, I need to borrow someone's WRX. Anybody wanna trade for a day? Maybe, I'll go pick his up tomorrow and get it started.

Ok, I got me a car so I can make the pipe shopping more efficeint. At least the person's car that I am taking will have it done when I am finished. Here is what I have that everyone wants:

AK_2002_WRX - 3.5" single
R-one - dual
Code-7 - 3.5" single
SonomaWRX - ????
KapaFool - dual

I'm thinking the dual set up will be cheaper because I think we can get away with using the stock removable tips. You can just replace the tips on the fabricated ones with the stock ones.

Question

are they going to weld the dual tip on? I was thinking of taking a tip off of the muffler and sticking it on the pipe or maybe I'll buy a clamp on filter

but If it is cheaper to do what you are talking about, I'm down
are you going to have them make one and fit it on to the car then make copies of the one they made?

I don't think they are going to weld a dual tip on. Most likely they will make the pipes and you'll have to put the polished covers on that are on your stock exhaust. What am I explaining this to you for? You want a single 3.5" tip! Are you changing your mind? You better get your choice straight right now. I'm doing this tomorrow.

Clamp on filter?

Yes, I'm just going to have them make duplicates of the one that is made with different tips. I'll find out prices for both.

I'll take a 3.5" tip. If you can only get a single tip larger than that I'll take the smaller twin tip. I gotta draw the rice line at 3.5
