Default 04 wrx totaled by insurance

Well long story short, my insurance company has deemed my car a total loss and will be totaling it . I am posting to see what the interest is in buying the car back as a salvage. As of right now, If I buy back the car I am thinking of either selling it whole to someone looking to do a motor swap.

I have not heard back from the insurance company, so I am not sure how much it will cost to buy back yet.

Most of the damage is just body damage, basically every body panel, including the rocker panel has been banged up on the driver side. Also, the driver side rear suspension and linkage is trashed and the gas tank has a small leak. I am not positive on all the damage as I have only looked into it a little. Engine and tranny are fine, I actually drove the car home.

The engine is a 2.5 liter hybrid built and installed by XXtuning in '07 and only has about 30,000 miles on it. The car recently made 285hp and 325tq at EFI with a vf43 and a conservative tune. I will probably start pulling performance parts that I have stock parts for this weekend.

If anyone has any intrest or questions, please let me know soon, not sure when I will have to make a dicission by, but I imagine soon.

Not sure what I am going to do yet, still waiting on insurance to let me know how much I am getting for the car and how much buy back will be. Not sure if I will part out on my own, more looking to get the car back for someone looking for an engine, they would take the entire car and they could part out as they needed. Don't really have room for a car to sit while being parted out.

I will be parting out performance parts I can swap out with stock parts I still have though, will probably add another for sale thread with those parts.

I hit the 3-cable guard rail stuff on an on-ramp, that stuff was like a cheese grater on the side of my car. It was just me in the car, no injuries at all, it was pretty low speed, but the cables took out everything on that side of the car. I am pissed the scoop was taken out because it messed up the STi splitter I have in there, I will try and fix it if any one is interested.

Bump, would be perferct for someone doing an RS swap. I was thinking of doing one my self. There is actually a nice 99 Red RS for $5,000 posted on here, would be perfect with this engine

It makes me sad to think this thing would end up in a crusher or something.

Sorry for the delay on a price to everyone asking, still waiting on the final buy back price from my insurance company. They seem to be taking their sweet time, which sucks cause I need a new car soon.

Ouch man. Sorry to hear about this and glad you're ok/no injuries. I'll keep watching this to see if there are any parts I might be able to make use of.

Still nothing from them yet, if I worked as slow as these guys I would be fired. It sucks cause I don't know what I am going to do until they tell me how much I am getting and how much buy back is.

Whatever you do don't tell them you want to buy it back until you get a value for the car you are comfortable with. There first offer is just that; an offer.

If they were paying storage fees because the car was sitting somewhere (usually $30-$50/day) they would be moving on it; and will pressure you into a decision. I suspect that isn't the case? Do some research on what a stock model with similar mileage is listing for used (the mods don't mean anything).

Once you agree on a value; "say ok; now what is the buy back". My miata (which they gave my over $5K for) had a salvage value of $500.

Finally have everything with insurance all straightened out and I am going to buy my car back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paultg, you were right on I was able to get my car for what it was worth and will be able to buy it back pretty cheap.

I guess at this point if you are interested send me an offer for the whole car. I am thinking about actually doing a swap myself now If I do a swap I will probably part the car out.

Right now I can't figure out if I want to do an RS swap or get an '08 STi, for the right offer you can help me choose by taking my 04 wrx

I have taken the turbo, intercooler, uppipe, and turbo back off the car and put it back to stock. This car pretty much has just body, suspension, and gas tank problems, and if someone can do body work cheap, they could get this car back on the road.

is the interior of your car leather or cloth. if its cloth then dibs on front seats. if leather, then dibs on the interior. (that is if someone doesn't just buy the whole thing, or if they do and don't mind me buying (or trading)the interior)
also interested in hvac, if it is an auto hvac.
