extra wire harness in engine bay

today as i was driving home, my CEL came on, the car was running fine before and after, so i decided to finish my trip home and check it there, so while disconnecting my battery, i noticed a little 2 wire harness hanging near the battery, it comes out of the same loom that the harness for the washer pump harness comes out of, inside the connector was a bunch of grease, so im guessing thah it was not meant to be used for my car.. but im curious as to what it might have gone to?
oh, my car is a 97 Impreza L, 2.2 litre sedan

it's for the rear washer pump on the wagons.
