Default The long awaited LFA

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/20/v...ing/#continued

I'm so-so on the front styling, but that motor screams in all the right ways.

The big selling point to me though: that awesome multi-function LCD instrument cluster! Now that is some sexy stuff!

Check out the video for it.

The new Supra concept is/was based on the LFA development.

Except unlike the Supra (not that I believe Toyota will ever bring one back) you won't own an LFA.

Production run is limited to 500 units. The LFA's motor supposedly puts out 500 hp, or somewhere north of that. Toyota was relatively quiet about that, they said it would make "500 hp" but never specified after that. It could make more, it might make less. I think 500 is a safe bet though.

There you go: 552 bhp and 354 lbs/tq with a 9k redline. And a 375,000 dollar price tag.

Ouch on pricetag. I'll wait for Clarkson to yield a verdict on this one on next season's Topgear.

Floormoounted pedals and digital gauge cluster FTW!

Clarkson will probably trash it. I've yet to see him say anything nice about any non-European car. He's trashed Vettes, Mustangs, GT-Rs, etc. I like the guy and find his opinions valid, but believe a lot of it is either bias, or just maintaining the image that helps maintain Topgear as the preeminent car tv show.

Good point; though thats only two out of a relatively long list of non-Euro cars he's talked badly of...though some I agree on.

edit > again don't get me wrong: I watch TG a lot, and I love every minute of it. However you're bat **** crazy if you don't think Clarkson is biased in his opinions. A good portion of that, I imagine, is just to maintain image and publicity, but it doesn't change that you have to take his reviews with a grain of salt.

You should check out the Lexus LFA Configurator on their site. The range of colors is pretty crazy. They have the standard black, red, white, yellow etc. Then they have crazy custom colors, including some kind of Sakura Pink.

You need to watch the episode where they come to the U.S. and drive the ZR1, CTS-V, and Challenger. It was in the most recent season, and they loved all three of them. The fact that he bought a Ford GT should tell you something. And I don't really think he trashed the GT-R, he just nitpicked it to death like everything else he drives. But of course that's his job.
