Buy one. Not too pricey and won't take too many months to be worthwhile. Plus, think of all the paper you can hold down with it in a few years!

I just purchased a 3-com cable modem from Amazon.com for $49.99 after rebate.

It installed in seconds and a quick call to AT&T Broadband was all it took for their system to recognize my new modem. I didn't even have to reboot my PC.

Cheers!

You can often find modems on Ebay for a great price.

If you need a SDSL modem, I have a top notch one (from two years ago) that I can sell for cheap.

Adelphia didn't give me the option... And it's been pretty nice that way. When I moved, I got a new cable modem, went from the Motorola Surfboard 4100 to the 4101. The price?, $40 a month.

And finally Adelphia's speed has been getting better.. I sucked down the entire Redhat Linux on Sunday in a couple of hours (5 CDs).

cable modem for $50
sounds like a good deal to me. IF it saves you $10 a month, then in 5 you are even.

Hahhahah and $200 in shipping for the rebates and you only have to wait 4 years

I hate rebates. Who ever came up with them anyways?

sweet... and your location is?

yeah i own a 1988 merkur xr4ti --- ford 2.3l turbo rwd. after i purchased it i changed my location to show i own one. it is a quirky car with a cult following. i was hoping there would be more xr4ti owners here but i guess not. i bought it to commute to work in, with hopes for something more. i may not be "the guy" for this car but hey it is cool. i might be letting her go soon, like i said xr4ti ownership is a CULT. i quickly got blackflagged from a merkur board, when i mentioned my impreza and i-club.

And I can attest to getting 350KB/sec out of my Motorola Surfboard 4101... Cable modem has been rocking that last week.
