Post Has this happened to anyone?

Have any of you guys/gals been asked this about your RS?. "where did you get the kit for your Honda and what do you have under the hood?" I was asked this the other night by a dude whom I guess couldn't read the emblems. Another guy thought it was a WRX and nearly pee'd his paints.

edit for spelling

I get that a lot. It seems lately the questions have started to come back for some reason. Maybe just because it's spring or the new advertisements. In the past few days I've been waved at, given the peace sign and thumbs up from quite a few people.

I have teens staring at my car and asking if they come from the dealer that way all the time out here (2.5RS)

The other day I was at the gas station with my wrx and someone asked if it was a new lexus, thought that was funny.

I ended up stopping on a major road a couple of nights ago to help a guy push start his car. And when he saw my car, he was more interested in it then the half mile of traffic backed up behind us. He thought my RS was a WRX. I ended up following him back to his house and we talked about cars for a while. My aunts friend asked me what year my Mustang was. I almost cried.

I had a kid in the Mcdonalds drive thru ask me where I got my "Rally Kit" for my car.
I explained that it came stock on the car, and he said,"Really? It looks just like the rally kit."
Obviously he didn't realize that the "Rally Kit" actually looks just like our car. The designers probably modeled it after seeing our car.

So many people have no idea about the heritage of our car.

I got, "nice forester" today, but most of the time it's, "why would you try and race your outback?" Dumbarses!!

I did, however, at the mall, get a "nice car" from two kids in a slammed black civic. I don't know why, but I thought that kicked ass! Oh yeah, I drive a GF8 OBS.

I get that a lot too. A lot of people seem to think my car is Turbo'ed even though it's a N/A. At my college's autocross, a few people asked me that question. Many people can't believe that all the body kits are standard either.

Wink

I just avoided all those questions, and put up a banner. Plus, with the tint strip it looks sweet.

I have a 98RS and just yesterday driving through the parking lot I've heard "Wow, WRX!" so I had to stop and preach about Subaru and differences between RS and WRX. And then few weeks before that I've got "Fat car, man" from a mexican dude on a lowered Chevy truck.

Thumbs up

I live in an apartment complex and my car is parked right in front of my sliding glass door. I can see people walking COMPLETELY around my car checking it out all the time!
Kinda cool...except when it's the teens

I powered up the drive through lane at my local Krispy Kreme one morning and got offered 2 dozen donuts for my car by the kis at the window... LOL. The next day he was working alone and he gave me my donuts for free.

I get some looks too. Around here ANY subaru is rare, even the mass-marketed outbacks.

I get asked "Hey, that's an Outback Subaru right? How do you like it?" all the time.

I actually had a porsche owner ask me if I had a turbo under the scoop but I had to reluctantly tell him it was a N/A flat four.

A couple jeep/truck guys have given me compliments on it when they see what it can do in the mud and offroad, but nothing really great.

That`s not fair, at least you guys get people looking at your car even if they don`t have a clue what it is. I have a 98 RS. I show it to people and they`re like, oh cool. But thats about it. No coming out of a store to find 6 people looking at it, no "nice BMW"! None of that. Maybe I need to paint it with some flames or something.

Tonight while Cruising the Local Avenue a Honda CRX 86-89 or so pulls up and asks why my Lancer is so high off the ground. I proceeded to roll up my window and leave him in AWD dust.
