Default How to swap the 2007 tial lights?

I got new 2005 tail lights for my 2007 STi, I thought the wiring harness will be the same but, its not. I am supposed to buy 2005 harness?? I NEVER heard this in the forum here or IWSTI.

What am I missing??

It should be plug and play man. Unplug your harness and remove the 4 bolts (4 for each assembly that is). Slide the assembly out, slide the 04/05's in and plug the connector in and screw the bolts back on. Baddabing baddabang Charlamagne.

Oh... I almost forgot. Before you get to the bolts and teh harness plug, you'll need to pop out the trunk plugs so you can move the trunk shell back to give you room to work.

It was plug and play on my 06, which has 4 bulbs. The thread I referenced to do the JDM mod to them has 2 people with 07's talking about their 04/05 tails.

The harness should be the same for both sets. Something is just getting overlooked I think.

I can 100% confirm just like everyone else has said that it's plug and play. I've gone from 07 tails to 06 to 04/05 tails. easy peasy.

JDM tail lights??? I was expecting an easy swap, my 07 lights have 4 bulbs and my new 05 lights have 5 bulbs. Is that simple I am missing one bulb in the harness.

Bulbs don't matter. They all connect into one harness. The one harness is all you need to be worrying about. It is an easy swap, I promise.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...tail+light+mod There is a link to the "JDM tail light MOD". It's just a mod people do to the lights to make them light up like the JDM tails.

In post #2 you can see the harness I'm talking about. It's the big white one that all the wires from the bulbs are running into. 1) unplug that. 2) unbolt the 4 bolts holding the light in, pull light out. 3) put new light in. 4) plug harness back in.

dude just un-bolt your old tails and unplug them, then slide in the new ones, bolt them down and plug them in. you will see that its not that big of a deal that one of them has 4bulbs and the other has 5. i have gone from 02 tails to 07 tails to 05 tails and i have just simply did what i told you to do. everything worked out fine.

Since I have the harness with 4 bulbs, one of the hole will be missing a bulb. I am having an empty bulb hole

dont remove the whole harness. just unplug the harness. they are all universal from 02-07 wrx and sti. as you can see everyone else is saying that they are just plug and play.

I read somewhere that the 05 lights on an 07 looked funny with the 07 bumper...the bumpers don't need to be changed if you're putting 05 lights on an 07 right? I think that guy was an idiot, but just wanted to check.

^^^ HE gets that its plug and play! but he only has 4 plugs on his harness and five bulbs on the 05's so he's gonna have to get the harness or just rock them with a dead buld or an empty socket... Right?
