Depends which alarm you have and whether it has passive or active arming. Most passive alarms activate about 30 second after the power to the car if off. (When the TT shuts off), so basically, so if you have passive arming, you could set the TT, manually lock the door, walk away, and 30 seconds after you TT shuts down the alarm arms as usual.

thanks guys, I had pretty much given up on this thread, but you said hks actually has a harness that works? great do you think it would work with a greddy and also, does it fit in the space next to the cup holder like teh greddy?

My lojack does come with an alarm system though- so I guess we'll have to find out

Also if your alarm (not sure about lo-jack) has a timed input/output you can wire it in. The timer will run for the specified time and then shut down your car and arm your alarm system.

Scoobed,

My alarm (Python 1000, not a Viper, got my snakes/alarms confused) does have the passive arming feature. I just checked my manual. I am pretty sure it isn't programed though. I have left the car unarmed and it hasn't armed itself. So I guess I need to get that programmed. I presume my installer can do this? Is there anyway I can program this feature? Also, would I always need to manually lock the car? Wouldn't the alarm arm and lock the doors itself after the 30sec. (If I wanted too, of course, I would be vulnerable until 30 sec after the TT shut down), but if I would forget to manually lock the doors wouldn't it arm and lock itself?

Svrblt, I plan on installing the Blitz next to the cup holder, it will fit there, not sure about the Greddy or the HKS but my guess is they are all 1/4 DIN, just not sure about the width. I do think the harness might work with the Greedy. I was told that the majority of the Turbo Timers, believe it or not, share the same harness. I haven't recieved and installed the TT and harness yet, I will keep you updated.

Brian,

Not sure about LoJack, its not really an alarm, but a recovery device. The factory Subaru alarm will not work with a turbo timer. You won't be able to arm it and lock the doors via the keyless entry with a TT. That much I do know. You can always manualy lock the doors. I have the Subaru alarm but went ahead and got a Viper alram installed. I just ordered a blitz dual TT and HKS wire harness because I saw that HKS has the wire harness out now for the WRX and that harness is interchangable with the Blitz. I sure hope my viper works with the Turbo Timer because that's what I was told.

Maybe someone with more experience with TTs and alarms can help more....

Slvrblt,

Do a search in the Turbo powertrain for 'HKS turbo timer', started on April 17th. (I couldn't figure out how to copy and paste the direct url link to that thread) There is a thread along the same lines as this one with more info and the link to Alamo Motorsports where I ordered my harness from.
