Default Accidentally left my guitar amp on for over a week. How to tell if tubes are bad?

I have a peavey classic 50 4x10. I had been playing it, left for work, and then remembered I had left on. I asked my mom to turn it off, and she forgot.

How would I be able to tell if the tubes are bad?

You're mad at your mom because you did something wrong? You're not very smart.

I remembered that I had left it on, so I called my mom and asked her to go turn it off. She forgot to go turn it off, and thus it was left ON in our basement for over a week.

It will sound like crap, not work, etc.

Was it on standby, or powered up? For how long? If we're talking until the end of your shift, I doubt it did anything.

If you don't notice anything obviously wrong (like it sounds a lot more like 2 cats humping than it did last time you played) then stop worrying about it.

play it. if it works, it's fine. if it sounds like either A: nothing, or B: utter crap, then it's broken. Other than that, what does it matter? You can buy a tube tester if you really want to.

It was powered up, but the master volume was at 0. And it was left in that position for over a week until I had time to go down there and play it again.

Only thing I've noticed so far, is that it seems like I have less overdrive than I did before. Like I have to really crank up the gain to get any kind of distortion on the dirty channel. I don't remember having to crank it up that much before.

Living at home makes me a 'spoiled little whiny'?

Great rationale, sir.

Wow, turned on for a whole week?

Make your mom buy you some new toobz.

As she's paying for them, tell her "This is what happens when you are irresponsible and don't follow through on your promises. You need to learn to be an adult, and stop 'forgetting' to do everything, as if that's a valid excuse. Take it from me, a douchebag kid with a 2007 WRX who lives at home and works some crappy part-time job. Responsibility is a bitch."

*sniff... sniiiiiiiff

Yup, still smells like freeloading. Most people give up fancy things like guitar amps and two year old sports cars and actually have a real college experience.

Freeloader.
