Default MY02 4EAT already has a trans cooler?

Hi, All:

Does the MY02 4EAT comes with a trans cooler ? If so, why we need another trans cooler?

thanx!

Yes, it does, but it's very small. It'll work fine for daily driving if you don't race your car. However, if you do multiple hard launches, you'll do best upgrading to a larger one. Mine (A Hayden 1403) actually was added in-line with the stock cooler - so both are working.

Depends on your needs. But even if you're just a daily driver, it's one of those "it can't hurt" mods for safety and tranny longevity - <$50 for a little peace of mind.

I thought it was standard? It's just a section of your radiator (the bottom). It doesn't really "cool" it brings the fluid to the temp of your coolant. Putting an extra cooler, actually lowers the temps.

Default not exactly

Your coolant temps are 180-210 (not sure of the specific temp for Subbies) but the tranny can run much hotter....like 260 and beyond under heavy duty cycles......210 degree radiator will cool a 260 degree oil chamber in its bottom.

If the car's running hot, AC on while driving hard on a hot day, stuff can get bad. Extra coler is good. Also, if you're doing auto-x or rally where you keep it at high RPMs in second gear, a cooler is a good thing. But always keep the stock one in-line and before the aux cooler.

Yeah, especially in the bad traffic in the New York city with AC on, I felt my car was so powerless. This is also because the tranny oil temp is too high, right?
