Default Another Ticket Thread :(

This isn't really even car related but seems like people get good feedback here and I need to vent a little

I drove up to Guardsmans Pass yesterday and the gate was closed and there was a cop issuing tickets I turned around and parked where it was legal to park I got out and went over to the side of the road kind of in the trees and started to take a leak. Before I'm done the officer is at my back asking me for ID. I give it to him and he says sit down in my car. I do, he comes back and says he's giving me 2 Class C misdemeanors for public urination and water shed violation. I try to explain that I had no idea that I was breaking the law but, he wasn't hearing it and left.

What should I do? If I fight it how much time is it going to take (how many appearances)? Do you think that there is any chance I could get this thrown out? I'm pretty sure even if I get a plea in advance that it'll still end up costing me 300$+ and I don't want to come out the pocket that much for something so stupid.

Jesus, WTF is with cops? It wasn't like I was being an ******* to the guy. He could have easily given me a warning and sent me on my way. **** tard!

I was on my way up to the mall last night and passed on officer not really knowing how fast I was going. Anyways he sped out and started tailing me. My window was rolled down And i put my big blAck arm on the window sill. The officer saw it, slowed way down and switched lanes leaving me alone. It was the strangest thing ever.

officer this morning (2:00am) was behind me at an intersection before the river bridge downtown. officer had turn signal on to turn right, but when i slowly accelerated (mind you it was raining) he tailed me onto the river bridge and then backed off. two cars in the opposite direction came flying by us racing and u-turned. he turned around on a narrow 4 lane bridge. never knew a crown vic could do that.

he tailed me because either 1) my car looks fast, and wanted to see what i would do. 2) he hates my guts and has seen me speeding around town 3) he liked my piggy stickers on my side mirrors and wanted to let me know

I think part of my problem is that I've had so much involvement with police that I no longer see them as people out to get me, I see them as normal people. I should probably change my thinking.

The sad part is this isn't the first time I've been stopped by a cop mid piss. Once me and my friend had been off roading for days on end just drinking and having a grand old time in the hills. Well this prick decided he needed to go home at 2am in the morning so we left the mountains with me asleep in the passenger seet. Next thing I know I wake up needing to pee. Were stopped for some reason so I stumble out of the jeep, look behind me and see lights thinking "hey some fellow jeep go-ers", and start to pee. Suddenly a cop yells "put your dick back in your pants". I was all WTF? and looked around and I was standing in the middle of a field in bountiful. Right by Viewmont high school.

The cop was actually really cool though and only cited me for under age drinking.

So this ticket is kind of like a shot to the balls. **** if I'm going to break the law, might as well have a cool ass story to tell about it. ****. This one is just super lame and uncalled for.

as for public urination its a joke if you are in a semi camping related area because thats what everyone including officers does when they are camping.

I actually think that you will find this story quite funny in retrospect. It sucks right now, but once its all over, you and many other people are going to laugh really hard at the fact that you got 2 tickets for pissing.

Nope not really.

There isn't anything really funny about being bent over by a cop for doing nothing out of the ordinary. I could see if I was doing something balling ass cool, but not for this.

I got a ticket last night! I was driving to meet up with some people and sending them a text and apparently I hit the Rumble strip on the side of the highway twice.... now lets take a second for that.

FIRST: as any one who drives our cars knows, You feel everything in the road even tiny rocks. I told him that I KNOW it didnt touch it. Then he got all weird on me like will i saw ya do it and if you didnt feel it will that well that tells me something. So I backed off on my defense thinking hes gona yank me out of the car and make me do a sobriety test. Which would have been fine because i dont drink.

SECOND: He gets all creepy on me. He says, "Now Im gona ask you a question and you better answer it truthfully. Because I know the truth!" At this point im like WTF could he be asking me. He says,"Do you speed?" Im like yes i do. and thn he walked away! WTF I wasnt speeding when he pulled me over.

Brings me back my citation and Apparently my license expired last month. I got a warning on the rest. ****

Uh... you were right next to a state highway. That easily qualifies as public. With how much time I know you've spent in the central Wasatch canyons I'm also sure you realize that they're serious about the watershed restrictions there. Sorry to be "that guy" but you made a boneheaded decision to break the law in plain sight of a law enforcement officer. Man up and pay your fine.

Salt Lake City sits in the transition zone between the desert of the Great Basin and the Wasatch Mountains. Almost all of the culinary water for the city and its surrounding suburbs comes in the form of snow melt off of the mountains. Thus the mountain streams, lakes and the areas surrounding them are watershed. Pollution, erosion and other human-caused activities in the watershed threaten its long-term viability. That's why there are special laws in place to protect it.

If I knew about the watershed thing I wouldn't have done it. I had no idea you couldn't pee in the watershed. All I've ever known is that you can't have dogs in the canyons. Dumb yes.... But I deserved a warning.

If I had any notion of illegality of my actions I wouldn't have done them. To me I was just taking a piss in the woods.

Fair enough. You could probably get the watershed violation excused with that argument to the prosecutor, in exchange for a plea in abeyance to the public urination charge. They're going to argue though that the watershed restriction notices are posted at every pulloff and trailhead in the canyons (which is true).

I'm not trying to give you a hard time. Good luck with the fight. Getting cited for anything sucks.
