Yeah yeah yeah...I got that same spiel from the Subie salesman when I was looking at a new Forester.

I wonder what Shannon's Outlander would do in that test. It has a selectable diff. I'm sure it'd do the same thing in 4WD auto the Highlander did, since the Outlander is FWD-biased...but it has a 4WD lock, and it would be able to climb it in that.

The Subaru automatic transmission transfer case is superior (traction wise) to the manual transmission, so meh.

um no its not. the manual trans has a viscous coupler as the transfer device and the 4eat with N/A engine is front wheel drive untill engages the transfer clutch to the rear wheels

That video is very biased in its tests. Testing a 2.5GT that comes standard equipment with rear LSD, center viscous coupler, and VDC against a Passat 4motion is about as fair as an STI against a non-EVO Lancer.

However, since I own a Subaru and now have an increased sense of confidence as a result of that video, I am willing to strike all testimony in opposition from the record.

P.S.
Subie's still push like pigs in a corner.

You got me there, I was thinking of the VTD AWD system in the automatic on turbo engines.
