Hi everyone, I recently bought a car that has a turbo back exhaust on it with avo turbo installed on the 04 rs car. He dyno tuned it and everything was complete. But when he sold me the car he took off the turbo and left the turbo back exhaust still on the car. What should I do now? do i need to tune it up again? or its fine the way it is? i did not add anythin on it since i bought it and it remains with the turbo back exhaust with no turbo. Please give me some advice on what I can do to improve my car and if its a problem to just leave the turbo back exhaust on without a turbo from a 2004 impreza 2.5rs

I have read the OP's post over and over again, and I feel like I am hurting my brain by doing so, so I will try to post a response.
Are you saying that there is A HOLE in between your exhaust manifold/up pipe and downpipe?! YES that is a HUGE problem. However, I don't think this is the case as the car would just barely run. I'm guessing the car was tuned w/ a turbo, and the turbo was taken off when he sold it, and he put the original N/A exhaust set up back on, in which case there is no problem, unless the ECU still thinks theres a turbo on it. I'm going to sleep now. |

I'll keep this very neutral, so please don't take offense.
Do you know what a turbo is or how it works? You should honestly read this article: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/turbo.htm Once you get that down, you'll begin to understand that a turbo is inline with your exhaust. It goes between the exhaust manifold and the downpipe. If there truly was a turbo and he removed it, he had to take the turbo-back exhaust off. He may have kept the cat-back on there, but he would have had to put on the old headers and matching piping. Now if the car was truly tuned for a turbo and now it has none, it needs to be retuned. If it is back on stock settings, then you should be ok. |

It's an RS, there is no "stock" turbo on it...you may know less than the OP, which didn't seem likely.
