I would question the durability of those push pins. If you scraped the mud flap against some solid surface, I wonder if the push pins would pop/break/release.

Why are concerned about using bolts? The holes in the car are pre-drilled from the factory, right?

The only problem with bolts is that some people have backed over curbs and ripped the mudflap off as well as, tear the holes as well. When that happens the factory mounting holes are useless, and to fix it you have to get a whole new bumper or do a DIY with different mounting points.

So then what's the preferred way that users on this forum attach mud flaps? I have an Impreza on order and am planning what accessories I'll be adding, and I want to make sure I do it the best way.

Most people use bolts with a metal mounting bracket the reinforces the hole, but you can still rip the holes from the bumper. The plastics pins might work, but I'm not sure how well they would hold up. They should break before they rip the bumper, but haven't heard of anyone do it yet. I have Flapatax mudflaps they use a u nut and a bolt. Though the rear passenger mudflap did get ripped off, so I only have 3 now. I have to see if I can fix it.

OK, so I don't have my car yet, and haven't seen the bumper holes used for attaching the mud flaps.

Are you saying that the mudflaps connect only to a plastic structure, with no metal reinforcement provided by the car's design?

for the love of god, please do not use the plastic clips. They workish (I started out using them) and then they will eventually pop out.

Thanks for the offer. I'll have to order a new rear passenger mudflap from you, I know that.

What's the opinion of Rally Armor vs. Flapatax mud flaps? Although I'm not sure if Flapatax has flaps for the 2012 Impreza 5-door (non WRX/STI) yet....

Less than half the price for the Flapatax

Understood, but I consider this to be a one-time purchase, so I'll pay extra if the Rally Armor flaps are truly better in terms of durability, attaching hardware quality, appearance, functionality, and so on.

Apparently I'm one of the few on this site that really don't like these big rally-style flaps and think they look a bit silly (opinion is the same for the all-so-common grille horns too).

I'm going to be using much smaller universal flaps in the rear in an attempt to match the OEM fender flaps/guards that the C6 Z06/ZR1s utilize. I'll make sure to post up pics when done for those that want something more low key while still offering some protection to the paint.

Hoping to have that done within the next week. I'm prepping to release the 11/12 Sedans this week, so I will be getting to that.

IMO I'm not saying my flaps are better than anyones. I just offer them at the price I do, because that's what I feel like it should be. I have only had a handful of problems with people ordering my flaps. If any problems come up it's usually because of fitment when I was first releasing something and that is given as it will need to be worked out.

I'm not trying to sway anyone, because if you buy it, you buy it. People make up their minds probably 90% of the time if they are going to buy something or not.

So I will say, buy what suits you best. Its about personal preference and purpose. I will be happy for you whether you buy Flapatax, RAs, RBs, Ikea, Autozone flaps, or decide you don't want flaps. It's all up to you.

How I fixed mine:
Take the Inner most part on the "L" Bracket and slightly bend it towards the tire. Its a good idea to loosen the outside bolts attached to the fender to allow for mudflap movement. Then when the flap is strait snug the outermost bolts up again. by pulling that inner bracket end closer will give you less of the "curling" - Hope that helps

Passenger's side rear mudflap - notice how the outside (closest to camera) is curling toward the front of the car:

Where did you get the flaps? Did you use a template to cut them?

@bigthoogs they looks awesome man, good job!

i personally love my RA mudflaps and they're a good company, they seem to do right by the customer. i'd rather spend a littler more if it's a one time thing, i'll probably have the same mudflaps on for the life of my car.

Are there shorter RA mud flaps I can buy, but would still fit my car (2001 impreza)? Liking them a lot so far, except I don't like how far down they hang in the rear. They're like 2-3 inches from the ground :/

I'd cut/resize them myself, but trimming the bottom would take off the logo.
