I finally found some Ikea boards on Ebay and had a chance to cut the out the other day using the template I found on here. I used some M6 self retaining clips, and then also screwed the corners of the fronts to the inner wheel well with sheet metal screws.
I love 'em, they offer a lot of protection, and look badass.

Is there a template for the 08/09 ones? Or are all the mud flaps the same for all years?

if i remimber right, the 08-09 flap layout is really really strange, and i want to say it needs a bracket to be sturdy... but thats just what i remimber

I don't think paint would hold up very well on a mud flap. You have crap being flung at it on a daily basis.

I can't take credit for the handy work on these. A friend of mine bought/cut the material. They are a higher impact plastic, and cost right around $10. Hardware was bought at home depot. I used speed nuts to hold them in.

This is more of a generic "mud flaps" question: How do they (Ikeas or the real ones) hold up in winter driving? Do they clog up with snow and get frozen in place?

Basically what I'm asking is are mud flaps a "all year round" option? These are a real nice mod for the DYI type of person, but after reading about Rally Armour's flaps, I'm thinking about getting those...

I've been following this thread for a while, and someone on the first few pages commented that they break under real rallyx conditions.

I've done a few DIY exterior mods already, so given that they can break under "real conditions" and I'd be running the risk of having the exterior look too "done myself", I went with RA UR's. Got them last week - can't wait to get them dirty!

Got bored and made a 47 minute drive in 29, just before closing to get the flaps. Im probably just going to spray mysubie.com on and then slap them on and trim the top corner. Pics before the weekend

mine held up really well to daily drive in normal road, but the only snow it saw was a 6inch deap super storm in nc, which pulled out two of the tabs that held it in place... but with better tabs, it would have been fine... its all in how well its secured to your car, just dont over to it... because you run the risk or messing up other parts of the car if it gets caught and pulled

you will like the look better if your round the bottom corners too... they look square without it
