-The turbo is a 3"Inlet with the newer 10cm hot-side...

-The heads are 100% stock...

-We usually street tune but we opted to dyno tune the car, there were a couple things we wanted to try with the new set-up that we needed to see the benefits or the downfalls of...I'd say we're almost there, the are in between 4,000-5,200rpm needs to be and will be worked on...it doesn't feel as laggy as the chart makes it look...

-This is @ 24.5psi and it holds 24psi to redline...

Here's a couple 3rd and 4th gear dyno-pull vids...

As far as i know its the only Dom3 in the island with it...the gains made up top compensate for the losses in the low end...i truly believe its the main reason the power stays above 400whp once it gets there...

I'm still amazed with how the stock heads flow...it leads me to think what would happen if cams, p&p, springs, retainers and 1mm oversized valves were thrown into the equation...

On the road, according to the logs i'm making 24.5psi by 4,450rpm in 3rd...but the AVCS is the saving factor in terms of response...plus i believe with the 10cm hot-side will begin to make even a bigger difference once to boost is turned up to 28psi...

Within the next 2 weeks the boost will be turned up to 28psi...so we'll see what happens, i'll post the dyno graph for that...theres a big drag race event at the end of the month that i'll be entering so 1/4 times are soon to follow...

That isnt too bad at all. My car spools around the same.
Yeah, once you turn up the boost the gains will be huge. I think that turbo could hold ALL the way to redline. With built heads it could make some serious power up top.
Looking forward to the results!

Nice! Looks like it turned out beautifully...those stock heads are amazing, even just cams would yield some good gains. The ports/valves are pretty big from the factory, so you may not even need to mess with those.

Would you post a screen shot or log of the AVCS timing? I am curious how it looks with the 10cm.

Thanks!

I can't wait to see dyno #'s and feel the result of the 28 psi tune...

I'm sure that a cam upgrade would yield some interesting results...but there's more left in this set-up so I'm going for the rest of the horses in the stable...lol

I'll do it when we go for the 28psi tune, we have been forced to go ethanol out here now so I'm due for a retune anyway...where running E1090 out here as of tomorrow...

The AVCS cams where turned to 0* @ 5,000rpm in the 24.5psi tune...

Plan on getting retuned this weekend for the E10 90 gas we have now, the boost will be turned up to a min. of 28 psi...lets see how the bigger hot-side reacts...

I had a run against a friend of me who drives a JDM EVO VII with FP RED Tuned @32psi, i was running 30psi that night....we did standing starts, 1st gear and 2nd gear rolling starts...

He got his ass handed to him everytime...i even gave him the jump a few times and by 3rd gear i passed him...

I'm loving the new 10cm back housing...the top-end power is amazing...i can only imagine how the billet wheel version would perform...

Smile dom 3 on a ej207 non avcs though thoughts

Ducash,

I have a V5 sti conversion in a GC8 (conversion done by Rallispec in NJ).

The V5 is a EJ207 but no AVCS.

I am looking for a turbo that would take advantage of the forged internals and higher redline of the engine but not immensely long spool up. I understand there is tradeoffs for higher output on a 2.0 .

Would you recommend the Dom 3 for my purpose?

We have 93 octane available and I have a greddy profec e-01 dual stage boost controller if that would help boost curve a little.

The Dom3 would be perfect for your set-up, a friend of mine is about to run the same set-up on his 95' JDM Impreza Type RA...

The extra rpm of the EJ207 will do the trick, put it this way even if your spooled by 4,500rpm you'd have close to 4,000rpm of boost which is alot...

Let's not forget your carrying around alot less weight with your chassis...

PS. you should look into the AVCS
