Default pre-96 imprezas

If anyone's read DJIMPREZA's thread about his "New project" you'll notice he mentions a few times how there are certain mounting brackets in the front bumper for an intercooler, certain space for a radiator or something else that would be there on the j-spec impreza, etc. does that go for pre-96 impreza's as well?

And if you're sill reading maybe you could give me advice on how much i should pay for a 2.5l engine i plan on building up?
