Default Benchmark Tuning 2001 2.5RSTi - 341WTQ / 298 WHP - Pump Gas

I am happy to announce after a few months of building our 01 2.5RS with a custom hybrid motor we put together is running with some impressive results. I will have to post the dyno graph when I get back into the shop, but this was my first chance to start the thread.

Event: Dyno

Location: Benchmark Tuning, Melrose Park, IL

Car: 2001 2.5RS

Tuner: Matt of Benchmark Tuning

Dyno Info: Mustang Dyno

Peak HP: 298 WHP

Peak Torque: 341 WTQ

Target Boost: 21 PSI Tapering to 12 PSI at redline

Target AFR: 11.8-11.6

Fuel: 93 Octane Pump Gas (Shell)

Engine/Power Modifications: Stock un-touched VF39, Tomei Header, TGV Deletes, CP Pistons, Race ported WRX heads (stock size valves), 3" TBE, WH 900cc Injectors Custom fuel rail set-up, walbro 255, TurboXS style FMIC with reverse flow piping, GSBCS

Driveline Modifications: JDM Ver 7 STi Spec C / RA Non-DCCD Short Ratio 6 Spd with Exedy Twin Plate clutch

Suspension Modifications: Cusco Zero2 Coilovers, Aluminum Control Arms, Beatrush front control arm support bracket, and more

A stock STI will do 220-230wtq/220-230whp

A stage 2 STi is around 270-290WTQ/ 260-280 WHP.

I will have a graph for you guys soon but I can tell you we are running a speed density ROM on the stock 02 WRX ECU.

This is all in a full interior non-gutted car. Being an RS it only weighs right around 2800 lbs

Graph is here

Looks good...especially on that heartbreaker of a dyno. Wonder what it'd put down @ Komet.

Why 12psi @ redline? Talk to you next week.

When you have heads that flow you get a wicked taper to redline

I remember tuning an LGT with a cammed, built motor but the stock VF40 a couple years ago. With a 3 port solenoid maxed out it made 9 psi at redline

That's what I had figured, since I'm fairly familiar with heads Matt put on the car, but figured I'd ask. They make my V8 EJ207 Big Ports look restrictive.

paul is right, the heads flowing as well as they do will make boost taper like that. There is still a little bit left in it down low I feel, but I'm liking where it is at, at least for now.

if I can find a track still open we would definitely find out.

yep, I haven't maxed the solenoid out down low yet but up top it is pretty well maxed, and that's a Grimmspeed BCS too.

these do flow better than many race ported heads that use 1mm over valves, it was very impressive to compare

Graph is up...

The work on these particular heads was done by a guy who primarily does head work on high HP drag cars, mostly NHRA. If you would like more info you can shoot me over a PM.

Matts heads make your V8 EJ207 heads look like a rough draft ?

Matt, i cant wait to see this car at the shootout, it sounded badass at the dyno day.

It should be two different paths to the same ending though. It would be good for comparison at the very least.
