No, I seriously, seriously did. Not a troll. Ask anybody who knows me offline and you'll know that's the exact reason I sold the car. Simple as that. 100% for reals.

I was driving home from class and a young guy in a VW GTI pulled up next to me. He had installed a BOV, and he was constantly putting his foot down hard and trying to impress me with his Psssst! He continued to do this all the way down the road for about 10 minutes until I finally turned to go to my house. It had me laughing, but it was very annoying.

Had a dumb ass kid a while back in a r32 with annoying ass exhaust keep trying to race me during peak rush hour with cars everywhere. Just ignored him, but speed up and smoked him on a off ramp. He didn't know what hit him after it happened. Also had quite the scare over the summer had a scion tc with a turbo keep egging me on to race him, so I finally did and we both hit 145 was right there with him, and I came up on a car in my lane fast as hell, on that note thank god for brembos, this is why I try to avoid street racing and most of the time avoid the boy racer types. I save racing for the quarter mile in my heavily modified 72 ranchero.

You just acted like a boy racer and sped up to 145 on the hwy and endangered other peoples lives.

A3 kept doing pulls and fly by's on a 50mph street. I don't acknowledge him. Finally we end up at the light together and he starts revving. I see a cop coming in oncoming traffic and I wanted to see if he was stupid enough so I revved back at him. He launches as soon as the lights turn green. And behold, he spins a bearing! Not sure if he got a ticket cuz I turn right on that light. Lmao

I've only had my WRX since July and haven't really had many issues with people trying to race me. When I get someone trying to egg me on I just ignore them, but if it got like what the OP dealt with I'd just call the cops. I won't even look towards any modified Cobalt, Neon, Honda, Acura, whatever it may be at a stop/light. I'll even drive slower to let them get ahead of me from a stop cause I feel like if I accelerate even at a normal pace they'll think I'm down for a race.

I had one of those Neon SRT-4's trying to show off, there was a good amount of traffic yet he kept using the shoulder to try and get next to me and was driving aggressively. It was pissing me off cause I had a right turn coming and didn't need him in my way, luckily some bus was at its stop and blocked him.

More recently I had some guy in his G35 try to race me on the freeway. Midday Sunday provides a nice traffic free road and I was cruising in the carpool lane with the cruise control on. Every time I got close to him he'd speed up then slow back down and wait for me to catch up, then he'd repeat. I'm pretty sure he eventually saw us laughing at him cause he looked kind of ashamed after he slowed again and we passed him

Was driving home from Boston with GF. She's 19 and ever time she's driven my car she's been that dumb teenage driver trying to.race everything else on the road...

Anyways, we were in 2 lane highway when a ricey accord with 2 flat rim gangbanger looking guys start riding me. I switch to right lane to let them pass. They then get in front of me and flash their hazards once.... my GF thought it was a sign so later on down the road after I get in front of them, she decides to do likewise and hit my hazards.... this led to them riding my ass through traffic thinking I wanted to race... gf loved it but I was unamused.... didn't satisfy them by speeding up or being reckless, just let them pass.

I haven't had my car for very long and so I haven't had many people want to race me. Except this one time when I was on my way to work. I typically out pace normal traffic by going about 5 over the limit so I noticed quickly that there was a car catching up to me through traffic. He pulled alongside and revved. I have dark tinted windows so I rolled them down so he could see me and inside. After 2-3 miles of him revving every so often we finally came to a light and we were both in front. Again he revved, I look over and gave a little rev back and he got all excited and started gripping his wheel tighter. Still oblivious, I asked him if he wanted to race. He looked over confused and said "well yea!". He changed his mind after I took badge off my belt to show him and asked if he was sure. He never noticed the uniform or the sewn badge on my shirt.

To the OP and anyone else in that position: Call the cops, don't stop for them, don't antagonize them, just keep yourself safe and let the authorities handle it. And yes, they may not do anything but it's not your call, just keep yourself safe. And yes, being a responsibly armed citizen is always a good thing. Protecting one's self and your family should always be your primary concern, sometimes the police can't get to you in time.

Super so you abuse your authority speeding everywhere then you pull the brass out on people that mimic you and try and close the deal?

Classic there. Do you also not wear a seatbelt and run lights etc. when you're on / off duty?

I wouldn't exactly consider 5mph over the speed limit "speeding everywhere" and abusing authority.

And yet, he would pull over me or you if he were setup for a speed trap and we were going 5mph over passing everyone.

Abusing authority, do as I say not as I do. I see cops on and off duty breaking the law all the time, constantly.

I think it reprehensible they do that. I also have noticed a disturbing trend of cops playing with their phones and driving like regular asshats as well.

Again, do as I say, not as I do.

Cops suck.

This exact thing happened to me last week, same kind of car too. I just let him do his thing and act like an asshat, just kept to the speed limit until I turned off towards my house.

This weekend too I was on the highway doing maybe 5 over in the right lane when a lifted diesel dodge pickup pulled alongside me and wanted to "race". I didn't oblige so he proceeded to speed up and cut me off, then slammed on the gas and all I could see was that good ol' cloud of black exhaust. That was awesome going 65 mph with zero visibility for a few seconds. Ignoring these people seems to be the best bet, especially when the Wife and kid are in the car, I'm not about to endanger myself or others if I have the choice.

Sorry you feel this way. We have been trying hard in this area to build up community trust and respect. Sounds like you have had a few bad experiences.
I guess it was one of those, "you should have been there" moments. It was a light-hearted experience as I was chuckling at him because he didn't notice me in uniform.
