I actually had to stop chasing down someone that I suspected was about to rob a house on a road behind my house, because I knew the roads around the area were deer infested and it was midnight. Ain't no way I'm going to risk hitting a deer at 90mph.

I've only had my 09 WRX hatch for a few weeks now and am curious if people will want to race me. Only twice have I been challenged prior to my WRX. A long time ago I was on the highway in my junky V6 Mustang and a VW propositioned me but I shook my head no and he simply left. Then in my 02 RSX-S a Cobalt SS was revving next to me at a stoplight, while I was talking on the phone, while we were sitting behind other cars... I only drive stock so I have no intention of having a faster car than the next guy and therefore no reason to race.

Generally just don't even turn to look at them. Eye contact is sometimes a bad idea with these guys. Than they really think you want to race. I had some guy rev on me at a stop light..... So I revved back..... when the light turned green, I did not go forever, and when I did go I took off nice and slow, just like my normal driving around town.... and he on the other hand took off like an idiot and clipped the car in the parking lane when he looked back and was laughing with his friends when they "thought they beat me". Than when I drove past, real slow, I rolled down the window and said, Don't worry guys I already called the cops for ya, help is on the way, and I let them know how good of "RACE CAR" drivers you where.

MAHAHAHAHAA.... it was good times.

Thats a scary situation if you slow down and stop and they do too! I would suspect a car jacking and call the police.

Here in STL I get engine revs, usually from mustangs. A couple of times it has been from a car going in the opposite direction slowly in traffic. It's usually just a friendly hello from another car enthusist, not a challange to race.

Serious question, how do other members get out of being harassed by wannabe racers?
You pull out a shot gun and ask them,"What? you want some of this"?.

If they don't get the message after a few minutes of me not acknowledging them, or they're being really aggressive about it, I just do a quick offramp onramp detour. Haven't had it not work.

Just ignore them, or give them a head nod. Anything else will turn into something stupid and aggressive driving will pursue....

I had a guy in an S2000 ride my ass and give me the thumbs down when he passed me. As much as I wanted to blow his doors off I held my cool. Pulled up too him at the next light (he had his top down), and he said "Aww, you scared?" or something to that affect, I just looked over and told him I wasnt wasting the C16 on any S2000 esp not yours. I had 93 oct in the tank but said that only to piss him off. He peeled out and I just putted a long like grandma.

Besides if you important enough people will wait for you, I'm in no rush...

Here once a car gets enough reports they'll send a summary letter with an itemized list of complaints warning the driver to stop the bad driving behavior before a cop witnesses it and issues a ticket or you cause an accident.

I normally ignore it but if it's someone who just won't leave me alone I play around for a couple seconds at the light. I'll give them a light rev and turn to them and nod, light turns green and they take off, I do not. Normally if they are dumb enough, I'll do it again at the next light, haha.

Just wave your 9mm out the window and ask them "Can your car go 1200 feet per second?"

On a serious note, when I first got my car nobody gave me a second look. I have it debadged so only the Subaru star emblem is on the trunk. Now, I just put a full turboback on my 08 sedan along with my old license plate frame "It's Stock, I Swear". I've gotten at least one car a day now trying to goad me into racing them.

The other day a newer Ford pickup heard me pass someone to get into the right lane to enter the freeway. He was driving normal until I got in his lane and then he speeds up and gets on my tail. With my coilover setup and camber cranked in, I entered the corkscrew onramp at about 40mph without even hitting the brakes. He follows me same speed. I see his headlights in my rear view mirror move left to right dramatically (he almost lost it) and then they slowly disappear into the darkness. Bahaha!

Someone in a Land Rover was driving aggressive in an active construction zone while I was on my way home. He even attempted to pass me on the right where there was a small split in the road cones. Hoping I would prevent an accident I moved over so he could not fit, but that didn't stop him from staying less than a car's length from my bumper.

When I pulled off at my exit his girlfriend was giving me the finger while licking it. I don't think she has any idea how ridiculous she looked.

Re route and extend the wind shield cleaner fluid sprayers to the rear bumper. Replace wind shield washer fluid with light weight oil, and deploy counter measures. Works like a charm.

I did consider this afterward, but even if this did happen I wouldn't be able to put out of my mind the disgusting face she was making. And her BF was a spikey haired, aviator douche.

Proof is in he owns a Land Rover in central Illinois.
