I'm on CORN YO!

Default my new thread on about my car.

I installed Keiths MBC/EBC hybrid last night. So far I only have the MBC hooked up. I am trying to get that dialed in before I hook up the EBC along with it. That MBC is pretty awesome. The boost comes on so fast and strong in every gear. I will post some longs so you can see where I am getting full boost at. I am shooting for around 2800rpm. I don't think it will be that hard to do. 2800rpkm 24psi 360whp. Not bad for a VF39

Damn that's impressive! I'm interested in seeing what a MBC/EBC would do for my car. I was looking at the Grimmspeed one but wanted to see if anyone had some positive experience with it first.

I have the grimmspeed EBC and MBC I have had the EBC for quite some time and it's been good to me. The MBC was on keith Astley's car with his hybrid setup and put down over 400/400 on a 20g.

So explain the reasoning behind the madness of two boost controlling systems. I am guessing MBC for quick spool and EBC for the the higher gears so you dont overboost?

Dang I sold my MBC when I bought my EBC had no idea that the two could be used in conjunction for faster and better spools/boost. I had a go fast bits piece it was very nice I might pick another one up..

yes hawk. The electric boost controller is used for daily driving and controling boost. The mannual boost controller is used for the boost spikes you get. It keeps it under control. So I ca ramp my boost up quickly and I dont' have to start tapering off teh wastegate duty to control the boost when it starts getting close to my target boost. It's kind of the best of both worlds.

Ya, tyler I know. Remember when I asked you if you still had your MBC, this is teh reason. So we could hook them both up together I have read a few threads from years ago people doing this. Keith just brought it back to my attention a few months ago with his setup.

Ok, I didn't get the numbers I was hoping for on todays logs. 24.38psi at 3500rpm MBC only. I was hoping to cut that WAY down, oh well. Maybe it's not possible. 2k to 7k this morning was 341/371. What is looking good is I am still making 280tq at 7k. With my old setup it was falling WAY off at the end.

I will post up the graph when I get home tonight. Now it's time to turn things up

My WB is set to regular gas. So they are around 11's to 12's It's pretty consistant. I will post up a graph of my timing AF and engine load tonight as well.

Hrrm, are you using the LC-1? If you are you could recalibrate it to run afr for the e-85 (9:1) but if you already had it tuned using gasoline afr's as a base i guess this is a mute point since the relationship stays the same and just the numbers change .

I look forward to seeing these logs

I would edit 360whp to 360CHP. The day a VF39 does 360whp with the stock 06 STi block on say cobbs dyno, will be the day I get a sex change. Other than that, kudos with the MBC on the EBC. Spool is cool.

I would believe 360 lbs.-ft with the VF, just not WHP.

Good luck with your sex change E85 makes ALL the difference.... When I am finished I will take it to cobb's. I am willing to take a bet I make 340 on Cobb's dyno. Just about every day the numbers change. They range everywhere from 340 to 370 (todays was 341hp) so I don't put to much credit in them. I actually purchased software for a road dyno, plus I have AB spread sheet tyo cross check my data. I did some logs with Jakes DOM III and the numbers between Cobb's dyno and my software were with in a few HP/TQ from each other. So they are close.

I would be happy with anything over 320. Since I am not chasing numbers I dont' really car. I wouldn't trade that little turbo for ANY big turbo. Nothing like pushing the gas to the floor and it instantly hits 24psi and Pulls hard before 3500rpm. You can't say that with a DOMI, DOMII, DOMIII, DOMIV, FG Green, or any other turbo in that size. It's amazing.
