Here is my worst run:
60' - 2.500 ... yes that's right... I lined up "in the groove" = REALLY STICKY 1/8 - 9.549 MPH - 80.40 1000 - 12.184 1/4 - 14.461 MPH - 99.31 But things got better over my next 4 runs... My best run: 60' - 1.990 ... still LOTS of room for improvement 1/8 - 8.566 MPH - 81.98 1000 - 11.148 1/4 - 13.376 MPH - 101.38 I must admit I "cheated" a little bit and put 2 gallons of 104 unleaded in. I only ran 17.5-18psi though. Full interior, the only thing I took out was my sub and my tools, kept the spare and all. Weighed in at 3300lbs with me in the car (I liked that scale there...kinda neat). So all in all good night. I like the fact that there is room for improvement on my 60' which could get me even deeper into the 13's. Maybe my lightened flywheel will put me into the 12's... hopefully [heh]. OH but I had to rent a STUPID helmet... dumb helmet . Might have to get one of those if I keep this up. One more thing. A guy with a 1.8T Golf went with Phast and I and he ran a 15.1 on his first run and he's BONE STOCK!!! I thought that was really impressive. It was also kind of funny to see a not so good driver of a new Viper GTS getting the same times as myself ![]()

Nice job! I am sure you can make those better with practice(not saying your bad, I suck anyway).

I didn't get any better or worse. Ran another 13.9@96.
Was all over the 14s for the better part of the night. The groove was real sticky and made for plenty o bogged lanuches. I was able to cut 2.0s and 1.9s out of the groove. Car still needs tuning. |

I cant wait to get into the 13 second club too. I am sure that the high schoolers were in the bleachers talking us up. Even the track workers have started asking about the WRX. See you there in a few weeks. Was the guy in the dodge van there (13.0). True sleeper.

Too much
.-VF22 @ 17.5psi -air-to-water intercooler -STi 550cc injectors -unichip dyno-tuned by Cobb Tuning -MRT 3" turbo back -uppipe -AEM CAI -lightened stock sized pullies -Blitz DSBC -homemade catchcan That's about it I think. Still have a lightened flywheel to install... maybe that will get me to 12's ? Wishfull thinking is nice somtimes [heh]. |

Nice!!
You beat my best Bandimere time by approx 0.4 sec and 4 mph, although I was running on 3 cylinders with 1.8 60 foot times at the time ![]() I am certain that I was justified telling peeps that you have the fastest WRX in the state. My car was running like cr*p the day you drove it, but on the next tank with an ECU reset it started behaving again. I want you to test drive it again back to back with your car when we install my new air water IC in a couple of weeks. Maybe have you drive it at Bandimere for me since I can't seem to get used to the taller gears (closer to WRX gearing now). I wanna see you hit 12's with the flywheel, then lose 300lbs and get a bigger 1820 turbo for 11's ![]() |

I am sure once you get used to your new gear set you will beat my record and possibly be into the 12's yourself here. And I wouldn't go as far to say I have the fastest WRX in CO. Maybe on this board and in CO but that's about it.
When I was at the track I was talking to a guy who said he saw a black WRX a couple of weeks ago running 12.7's. Although he said the person doing it was pretty cocky and said he was running around 26lbs. of boost. So I would "assume" he does NOT have it tuned and even if he does that's just a little too much for the stock block to take ... long term I believe. But hey I will ride the high horse while I can . Let me know when you get your atow installed. Is the same one as mine or a different on btw? |

You want to go even quicker? Are you completely hooked up as you launch? If so, not good. Unless you have shed loads of horsepower to use all the traction, you need to be slightly spinning the tires as you leave the line, this gets you into the boost quicker and you're accelerating harder. Try pumping up the tire pressures until you do. Skip the burnout if you're doing one (I'm assuming you're on street tires?) It does you no good and typically you pull up to the line dripping water that is held in the treads (on the other hand, you do want to spin the tires a bit) One other thing, try shifting at your torque peak, not your redline. And all things being equal, if you drop 300 lbs and do nothing else, you'll go about 3/10 ths quicker.

I honestly don't know if I am completely hooked up at the launch. I have tried a couple of different launching techniques and I did get the wheels loose a couple of times but they didn't squeal (on the street) so I couldn't really tell at the track. Somthing was slipping a little bit and I didn't smell ANY clutch so I can only assume it was my tires.
Don't do burnout's, don't even line up in "the groove". I was lining up outside the groove on the driest least rubberized pavement I could find. Unfortunately I can't fit the stock wheels over the Wilwood brake kit so I am running 225/45-17 S03's... which as you might imagine are kind of hard to break loose .Yah I shift at redline mostly becuase that is where my peak hp is. I run 17.5psi all the way to redline so my power DOES NOT fall off like stock car characteristics. If I shifted at my peak torque I would shift at like 4000rpms . I am fairly confident in my driving and shifting BUT my launch definitly needs work... it just takes practice that's all. Up to this point the best 60' I could get at altitude was a 2.3 and I am down to 1.99 so I just need more practice. Also about the weight you are right. BUT I don't want to run my car in a "moddified form" different than what I would run everyday on the road... but that's just me .Thanks for the advice though. |
