Default Can anyone identify this transmission, clutch, and flywheel? +Clutch questions!

Swapping the motor on my 2002 wrx and discovered that it doesn't have a transmission from an 02. I googled the number found on the tag (ty754vw7aa - tx) located on the passenger side housing of the trans and found somebody saying that this is out of a 2006 WRX. Can anyone else confirm this?

Also, I'm assuming that if indeed I have an 06 trans, I would have a flywheel/clutch specifically for the 06. I'm posting a few pictures to make sure.

As for buying a replacement clutch - has anyone heard of the Exedy OEM replacement FJK1001? Check it out on google if you like. Is this a good oem replacement or am I better off just ordering actual oem parts from an authentic subaru parts website? Not really looking for anything too performance oriented, just enough to handle an 04 ej205 with stage 2 mods. Thanks!

sorry bad pic but this is the driver side housing...just noticed a difference here b/t the 02 and whatever I have

hard to see but the flywheel seems to have a bit of a lip on it.

That is definately a 2006-2007 trans with an OEM flywheel and clutch assembly. Grease everything up real well before reassembly. I've found that the push style clutches get firmer and rougher with time. Cleaning and re-greasing everything seems to help a lot.

the significant VISIBLE difference is the push style clutch setup which means 06+
I would recomend the oem replacement exedy. A large number of the OEM's use exedy as the factory clutch. (they have it stamped right on the disc/pressure plate ect)
Buying the one from subaru is a waste of money in my opinion.
BUT!!! you have to buy the clutch and flywheel for the 06+ trans. the 02 clutch WILL NOT WORK =)
Good luck!

Just FYI - The 06 trans ends in VW7AA (MY07 also has this trans) while the 02 ends in VN7AA.

you can see cross ref of this here
