Default STi pink springs on stock struts?

Looking to get a little lower look and slightly better handling.
Are STi pink springs okay to use on the stock struts?

I have about 46k miles on them right now

Are you talking the aftermarket USDM STI/SPT pink springs for the WRX? or the JDM STI pink springs? From personal experience, the USDM pink springs will work well, though they'll be slightly under-damped. Many here will suggest considering STi stock take-off springs, since they give you a similar rate and drop for much less money if you buy them used. The JDM pink springs will be considerably under-damped when paired with the WRX stock struts.

^ what thorongil said is spot on. To sum up his last part, the JDM pinks will likely eat up your struts, while the USDM pinks were made for WRX struts. With that said, STI take-offs will work as well.

I personally went with the Mach V WRX springs-perfect drop for someone like me that drives 80 miles everyday and has 4 months of snow each year with a nice increase in handling (slightly less body roll, etc). They are $199 shipped right now from MachV, so not a bad deal at all-still not as cheap as STI takeoffs but the MachV's have lower spring rates and thus will work just a tad better with your stock struts.

I looked into em and they seem pretty good for only $199, so thanks!

STI take off springs or the STI Pink springs on stock WRX struts is not a great match, but works ok. The struts will wear out earlier and you'll feel the underdampening on expansion joints, etc. when on the highway (will be like a WTF is this). While not ideal it does work uh kay at best.

this will work, but eventually your struts will probably go... but either way you can get the springs first, use ur current struts for as long as possible then get new struts.

Can you explain why? Is STI pinks too stiff or too low for the wrx struts?

Thanks!

I have Konis inside my stock struts... I think it is called inserts (not sure if that is how you call it) and pink springs are in my list. But now I'm not sure...

Get the pink springs trust me you will thank me thats exactly what my set up is going to be the koni inserts and then the pink springs and sway bars the pinks and konis are awesome its like driving on coil overs you should also look into the knob extenders so you dont have to take your back seat out to adjust the struts

JDM pink springs and Koni inserts are wonderful. It's just stock WRX struts are a little soft for those springs

I was holping the Knonis could help to prevent the strut problems, but it looks like there is no way out...

???

It's the guts, inserts, that you have to think about...

You will be fine with the upgrade.

Anyone run this pinks/konis application with the wagon? If so then I might have found my next mod.

Yes, BigSky. Just make sure you use wagon struts.
