Hey I wanna buy a camera but know absolutely nothing about them. I want one that can take very good pictures, specifically pictures that are really clear. Im sick of using this p.o.s. coolpix, look great when its on the camera then I put it on my computer and it looks super fuzzy/blocky. So you guys taking those super sweet pics of your cars give me some advise on a good camera around.... 200..300 or so, don't wanna spend too much but money isn't a big deal just the quality of the camera. I think someone on here took this sweet pic and this is what I would like the camera to be able to do. So any advise would be appreciated thanks.

I would recomend just getting a nikon d40. Its an awesome beginner camera and will take plenty clear pictures.
And the picture you posted looks the way it does because of the post processing more than the camera it was taken with.

i got a Sony a300 (my brother aaron suggested it) It is a bit more than you are looking but the sony collection has a bunch of SLR camera's that are reasonably priced that are great camera's. Aclever1 needs to post up in here. He is a professional photographer, and has lots of camera experience.

The reason most DSLR's take better pictures is because of the lenses. A good lens will make all the difference. A point and shoot camera just isn't going to have as may glass elements in its lens than a big DSLR lens. If you want a good camera that is packed with features and make great lenses Sony has a lot to offer for the price. Of course Nikon and Canon make great camera's too, I've shot nikon and cannons but favor nikon because I like how they are set up and battereies last forever so you can shoot all day and not worry. Just get a DSLR camera with with features you like and find a good lens, it will be tons better than a point and shoot.

I say get either.....
A) Canon 7D - This is a AWESOME camera and priced amazing ! I just got one. The only thing people will **** on it for is that it doesn't shoot "full frame" well the truth is, when are you EVER going to see the full frame size ??? ...because ehh most pics end up on teh internets anyway. Its badass and shoot REALLY good video if you are into video.

B) Canon Rebel T1i - this camera is WAY good, don't listen to people who tell you "its a rebel blah blah blah im gay" its badass. Its like the 5D mkII little brother, seriously. This little guy is a ****ing bang for your buck thats for sure !

I am particular towards canon as you can tell.... Honestly if just wanna take really nice pics that will ultimately end up being photoshopped anyway (almost all do) get the T1i http://www.canont1i.net/

....my 2 cents /end

ps. Lenses Lenses LENSES ! ! can't say that enough. That almost makes or breaks a photo

pps. That pic above was batched using photomatix im pretty sure....

I agree with Axleon, any nikon is going to treat you well. I've had the D40, and now the D90 and I love them, you can't go wrong with them.

Here are some Websites that i found useful when i went searching for a good digital camera.

http://www.imaging-resource.com/

http://forum.digitalcamerareview.com/index.php

What i learned when i was shopping is to know your budget well, and than also expect to spend at the most $40 bucks for a SD card, i know you can get like a 4 gig one for under 10 bucks, i went with a 16 gig because i didn't want to have to worry about possibly filling it up, as well as i decided to go with a Panasonic TZ5, it can do HD video so wanted lots of memory as well as when you get a camera that has HD video capable you need a fast memory card to be able to handle it.

dude casio ex-fc100 if you like point and shoot cameras. It has a high speed shot setting which is awesome and the quality is great. You can get them off amazon for like $250 right now which is a great deal IMO..

I use a Canon Rebe xsi and absolutley love it. I like the Nikons as well. I think Nikon and Canon are equal and it comes down to personal taste. I chose the Canon because that is what my sis-in-law had and I could borrow some of her lnses when I got started.

And that picture is what is called HDR. It was done in a editing program.

I think Ill end up going with the new nikon D3000. Everything I've read says it a fantastic beginners camera. I go to weber so Ill see how much they discount photoshop, besides photoshop any suggestions on an equally good or better editing program?
