Stewart Subaru is the most ghetto Subaru dealer I've ever seen. Went to the parts department ONCE to get a spare key made and they didn't even have OEM Subaru blanks. Might as well went to flippin' Ace hardware. Besides that, the place doesn't do much for instilling confidence that your car would have quality work done to it.

I definitely recommend McCurley Integrity Subaru in Pasco. Had a speed sensor gear core out when my car was under warranty and they didn't ask any questions. Got my car in the shop immediately and had a free rental car ready for me the same day. Would definitely go back to them if I had to. Except they did try to charge my brother $1.25 a piece for crush washers when I had him swing by to pick me up a few. Not cool.

damn run on sentences
Glade Rd through Bickleton/Cleveland and west to Goldendale is a sweet drive only because it has a horseshoe canyon that you need to drop into. The rest of the road is REALLY beat up and a patchwork. Not very suspension/tire friendly. But that canyon is a sweet 2-3 miles of about a thousand tight corners.

Shhhhhhhh, don't out the bickleton-Goldendale road. Jesus, now there is gonna be traffic and Subies launching off corners and then cops. I luv that road, it is almost as much fun as the ryan lake cut off up to windy ridge or the old lewiston/clarkson grade from pullman.

Sure hope so. So you got your pass and ready to tear up the expansion? We'll definitely have to hook this winter to hit the new runs out there. My brother picked up a '01 RS2.5 with only 25K on the clock so we'll be trucking that bad boy up there quite a bit. I hope it snows as much as they say it will. Could be the best season EVER.

I only suggested Pasco because changing your head gasket isn't like changing your oil. You want a competent shop working for you when you're talking a major service. McCurley's had to pull my tranny to get at the speed sensor gear and they did a great job. I just would be hesitant to trust my car with major repairs to any shop that doesn't specialize in Subarus.

lol! One of the first times I took that road it was in a loaded semi a few years ago when I didn't feel like being hung up at the Satus Pass scales on a drop to Goldendale. I remember trudging up and down that crazy canyon thinking how awesome it would be if I was in my car.

No worries though. No one looks at the Yakima thread anyway.

So I called McCurley Integrity Subaru in Pasco since I may be working in that area.

They quoted be 1,600 and two days (replacing other gaskets and seals as well).

That seems like average dealer prices, but a little more than I wanna pay for a 10yr old car. I still might go that route, but I'm still open to suggestions.

It just sounds time consuming, more time than I'm willing to commit to (I've been told I have commitment issues). I honestly would rather have someone else do it, I have too much on my plate right now.

Understandable your looking at a good weekend job. The lameest thing about ding it is you have to disassemble your head to take it off your block since subaru decided to put the head bolts directly under the cams..... thanks.... anyway the process iss easy one thbing about subaru everything is easyier then it looks but if you don't mind payingand or can afford it just go that rout since the motor is out I would suggest doing a clutch and timming belt and tensioner if not done already.. I believe factory belts are rated for 60k.. just something to kick around no reson to tear back into it again soon..

yeah, the clutch and t-belt, water pump were changed out when I bought the car. I just need to replace the gaskets, they are pretty cheap here: http://www.rs25.com/forums/f14/t1243...kets-kits.html
So basically I just need to pay for labor and for a few odds/ends (fluids, sealant, etc..).

In more fun news, I just wrapped up school and I've been interviewing. Snow is piling up @ WP and with school out of the way I should have more time for riding this season .
