Default CEL p0442 fixed- may help you

Was throwing a p0442 every month or so for the last 5 months (evap system small leak) on my 2004 STi. Wasn't my fuel cap. Friday I used a smoker to attempt to find the leak in the system. Tapped in at the secondary purge valve coming off the intake. A few seconds in and smoke was pouring out from below. Turns out one of the nipples had broken off of my Evap purge valve (primary). I have included a pic below.

this failure point is quite common and is likely THE most common cause of the
p0442 other than the gas cap not being tight

I just fixed my P0442 CEL today on my 07 sti.
I used a smoker at work and didnt see any smoke coming out from anywhere. Tested the gas cap and that was fine. I doubt this is a normal problem, but my cause was a bad gasket for the fuel pump...funny because i've never opened that cover before lol. I pressurized the tank and heard a hissing sound and so I sprayed some soap water and saw bubbles coming up through the threads....i just unbolted the cover, cleaned the surfaces and bolted it back up; no more leak!

Ah thank you for this pic and thread!!

Would the hose at the blue T also cause a boost leak at all?

Default P0442 possible fix

Suburu recall WVL22 (05-08 Forester, 05-07 Impreza 2.5l) requires the dealer to remove the fuel sender unit. If you started getting this code any time after this recall, this is another location to check. Other threads show how to check this area so I won't go into specifics. However on mine I failed to inspect the dealers work until I got the code, and sure enough a wire was stuck under the sender cover, causing the gasket to fold over. When I first removed the access cover from the trunk, I could see and smell fuel all around this cover. Hopefully this will help.
