Default Need DIY gift ideas for a White Elephant gift exchange...

Friends have a yearly holiday party with a gift exchange, except everything must be hand made by yourself. last year there was some nice woodwork, a joke book, an awesome magnet set (my friend took pictures of himself and accessories so that you could dress him up).

i was going to cop out and give an old piece of pottery or sculpture i had made a few years back if i can't come up with something decent.

i have minimal wood working tools right now...haven't picked up a paint brush in years either.

i was thinking about making some home made ipod speakers, but i'm trying to think of a box or found item i could make into a nice artsy looking speaker.

Go to Michael's and buy an enormous canvas and some inexpensive paints, and do a nude self-portrait. Exaggerate a little.

print out some papercraft and fold it up. I have a Totoro, a Dr. Zoidberg and a Bender character in my office right now.

HEY! make one of those chairs Asinine made! he did an awesome job!http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1855098

there are plans for using a heat gun to make lawn sculptures that look like geese/duck/flamingos from PVC pipe.
You could even use PVC pipe fittings to make the PC speakers.
Or make the speakers in emptied/cleaned Spam cans or some other whimsical contaner.

Get the ceiling cat cutout and have it looking out of the box when they open it.

Crap, you have to make it yourself? Um, glue them into the shape of a person. A bouncy person.

You can find tons of great ideas here.

If I had the time I'd try to make something like this.

We did the same thing this year. 12 women and 3 men in our department. We ended up 13 baked gifts (cookies and cakes), the cedarwood candelabra I made (There was almost a fistfight over this one) and a very nicely done door wreath.
