Default Infiniti to reveal redesigned 2010 G, 2011 M and 2010 QX at the LA Auto Show

Infiniti is set to display its new 2011 M sedan at a special event that takes place in Beverly Hills on Dec. 1 that will have a live web broadcast. The sedan will be shown alongside the revised 2010 G that had been given an exterior makeover and a refined interior. On that event, Infiniti will also be providing details on when it will reveal the all-new 2011 QX SUV, which is said to have been based on the forthcoming 2010 Nissan Patrol. The firm’s senior executives will also have the opportunity to discuss Infiniti’s future hybrid and all-electric models. Also, expect these vehicles to come at this year’s LA Auto Show!

Default Infiniti electric vehicle set to fit performance image

Even before Infiniti’s all-electric luxury model is launched, Infiniti managers are already applauding the car for matching the performance image that they have been working on the past years. Ben Poore, Infiniti Business Unit vice president, said that the model “fits perfectly” with the performance standards that have been set for the brand. He proceeds to call it a “very cool vehicle” but then declined to provide specific details about the model.

He would only say that the company has a “unique new global model” that will be sold in the US. At the Tokyo Motor Show last month, Nissan Motor Co. CEO Carlos Ghosn had described the car as “a compact, high-performance, four-seat luxury Infiniti with zero emissions.”

Infiniti designers and planners have been open about their goal of sharpening the brand’s image to compete directly against more performance-oriented European brands such as BMW and Audi.

At the Los Angeles Show next month, Infiniti will reveal a new 2011 Infiniti M sedan that it claims has more standard horsepower than competing models from Mercedes-Benz and BMW. More than their counterparts, Infiniti executives have been adamant at avoiding any product change that might detract from the brand’s image.

At the 2009 59th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance earlier this year, Infiniti held a ‘virtual’ unveiling of the new 2011 Infiniti M. Today, on the eve of the 2009 LA Auto Show, Infiniti decided to hold a party to show the Infiniti M in all its real flesh.
For 2011, the Infiniti M37 gets 27 more horsepower than the current M35, while the 2011 M56 gets a new 5.6L V8 making 400-hp, or 95 more than the current M45.
Nissan has also confirmed a hybrid variant, the 2012 Infiniti M35 Hybrid, which will arrive in spring 2011. The Infiniti M35 Hybrid will carry a single electric-motor/twin-clutch arrangement, mated to a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6. The hybrid sedan, which will carry a lithium-ion battery pack, will have the ability to run on electric-power alone under certain driving conditions.
