The car i've been thinking of building - impreza L with WRX STi motor swap

is this action feasible?

the motor is called 22b correct?

now i know the 2.5rs has a "glass tranny" so i probably would not want to use that platform...therefore i decided using an impreza L chassis with the entire 22b drivetrain in there would be a good idea.

i basically know how would you go about doing this or are there any good GC8 chassis Turbo Cars out there for sale.

im looking for a modest 350hp at the flywheel.

just something that is silly amounts of fun

2 guys I think are selling there turbo'd rs's if you looking for a finished prize. I believe your going to have a hard time finding a 22b motor and tranny. 22bs are very rare cars and most of the time if one does end up in the local junkyard. With in days that thing is turned into a piece of rust metal frame...stripped of anything and everything. Just my 2 cents. I could be wrong.

you'll never find a 22b for sale...you can get a 2.2litre block and DOHC and replicate one, but you'll never get your hands on one. and the 22b is not the STi and the STi is NOT the WRX...these are 3 dfferent cars. and FWIW every subaru trans is a "glass" trans as you put it...it's just that a turbo'ed EJ25 makes more instant and FLAT torque then any other motor.

Be VERY suspicious if anyone says they have 22b parts, especially engine and driveline...this gig is all about your source. DO NOT SOURCE FRONT CLIPS/ENGINES THROUGH NAMELESS, FACELESS PEOPLE. Stick with high profile, reputable, established vendors. You may pay more, but its the only way to guarentee you'll get what they say you're getting.

I actually saw a 22B front clip about a year ago. It was on a flatbed under a tarp. Going to be made into an airplane

The guy was just driving it somewhere for a customer and wasn't too keen on me poking around. It was RHD, the fenders were pretty beat up but it did have a plaque on the passenger side that said 22B on it. Had a 3 digit serial number but I wasn't able to get them...

Anyway, building your own 22B motor from a legacy turbo 2.2l setup should work just fine. A normal STi goes like snot anyway so I can imagine what a 2.2L engine boosted to about 18 PSI would be like...
