I took my car to the dealer to see if they could fix the rattles. They said they wrapped a plug in foam and it was fixed. It was exactly the same when I got it back, I took the door panel off and they did nothing. I did what Marco said and the door is perfect now...100% better.

I bought a pair of pioneer ts-a1673r for my 09 obs and it so happened to be that the stock speakers supplied more bass than the new pioneers but the pioneers did sound clearer. Can anybody recommend a speaker for the front? I have the stock head unit and no amp.

Other than "Rattle," what do the the white boxes do? Meaning, why did Subaru install them in the first place?

@th30dd7

Thanks for the pics man! I am printing them out and taking them with me to the dealer tomorrow to show them what exactly what needs to be fixed. I went in before and I was told some part had to be ordered and had to come back once they received the part. I doubt they will remove it but hopefully they can put some sort of sound deadening material on it.

Thanks! To take them off do we have to cut the OEM plastic that seals moisture off from the door panel? I'm just going off past pictures I saw of the WRX door panel.

No, you don't have to cut the weather shield.

The pictures aren't showing up on these instructions anymore! I want to print them out and tackle this today. Are there any other instructions available or via a PDF file??? Let me know.

I actually managed to break one of them putting it back in....yeah I'm an idiot . At least I didn't make the same mistake twice right?

Anyways, can someone point me to the right link for a replacement for the rear passenger side sail?

Is part #8 the part I'm looking for in the picture there and is this a reputable place to buy it or should I just go to the dealer?

This box definitely rattles, but I am hesitant to remove it because it looks like it has a function. If you look in the actual door there is another white plastic piece that may require that white box to be there (ignore the arrow, it's the white piece on the right side of the picture):

does anyone know what that other white plastic piece does in the door?

I have removed them from ever door panel that i have removed. No detrimental effect. Ironically, i believe that they were intended to absorb sounds between the inner door skin and the interior panel.

Fail...

I thought they had something to do with the airbags in the seats so I left them on and fixed the vibration with some foam. edit.. Oops.. old thread..

Or, you can use rubber grommets behind the screw holes and re-attach them. This also works. I'm not even sure why they put the darn things there, it's not like they're water-tight to prevent moisture or anything...
